I think I read a post by someone who said he played on his Skytrak with a lefty, and they didn't move the unit while alternating shots. The lefty just took his stance while standing over the Skytrak unit.
Is this a thing? Does anyone else do this? Does anyone do this for their 'normal' setup?
It seems like it would work dimensionally if the skytrak only sits about 12" from the ball?
And if you have a separate stance mat and hitting mat, then you could leave a gap between the two mats so that the Skytrak could sit in between. (So it wouldn't be affected by your feet movement or by your club's impact.)
In case anyone is wondering, I'm interested in this setup for 3 reasons:
1. I haven't bought anything yet; I'm still in the planning stages of figuring out what my sim space will look like. And I'm really struggling to get the best layout with the limited space I have. In one of my layout options, the Skytrak in its "normal" position would be sitting in a spot where people sometimes need to walk by. I'd like to leave a nice path between my mat and the wall, rather than setting up the skytrak to be a tripping hazard.
2. I'm trying to work on my swing direction, and I can imagine that having a $2000 box sitting to the right of the ball is going to sub-consciously 'encourage' an out-to-in path. (Can anyone comment on whether this has ever been a problem for them?)
3. I've never shanked/toed a ball towards myself, but I have hit shots that would have been bad enough to hit a Skytrak if there had been one sitting in front of me in its 'normal' position. (I do plan on getting a protective case, but then I'm worried about setting up a scenario where the ball could ricochet off that protective case and come back at me...)
Any input is appreciated!
