This post by JJ62 could be the silver bullet for people struggling with SkyTrak connection problems. I pasted the text below, so no need to follow the link. I have had problems with my Skytrak since day 1. I read every post and tried everything suggested by everyone over the past year with only minimal improvement. I was in the process of buying a GC2 when I tried this as a last resort. It worked instantly! Tonight was the first time in a year that my buddies and I were able to play 18 holes with zero problems! It was so much fun!!! Although it costs $25-$35 for a simple USB wifi adapter, I would urge anyone struggling with connection problems to do this immediately. I would also urge SkyGolf to include an adapter and make this part of the standard installation - or at least pass this along to your tech support people and have them recommend this immediately to people struggling with connection problems. It would save so many people so many problems.
My problems were different than those described by JJ62. My connections would drop out randomly (often), and sometimes I couldn't get a connection at all - even direct with USB. Regardless of your problem, I would try this to assure a rock solid connection.
In short, this solution has you set up a second wifi on your PC (using a USB wifi adapter) that you connect to your SkyTrak. Once you have installed it like he suggests, going forward, when you click on your wifi icon at the bottom right of your windows screen, you will see a drop down at the top of the list that lets you select between your normal "wifi" and "wifi 2". Clicking on either one will show the list of the wifi signals available to the selected wifi. You turn on your SkyTrak, then click the wifi icon at the bottom right of your Windows screen and selected "wifi 2" at the top. When a list of wifi signals appears, select SkyTrak once it appears. Before or after this, jump over to select your normal "wifi" and connect to your normal internal network; this will give you internet access while using SkyTrak. Before doing this you might want to do a hard reset of your SkyTrak to forget your previous wifi settings (by inserting a paper clip in the hole on the bottom of your skytrak - make sure it is on and you see three yellow lights).
I think the instructions are pretty complete, and I added some clarification comments. Although it sounds complicated, it only took me 5 minutes. Stay with this. If you have problems/questions, please post, and we can clarify as needed. Don't quit on this - it works!!!!!!

My Problem: Hit the ball, laser goes out - but shot not accepted.
Tried: using wifi - signal good for my skytrak pc - but too weak for skytrak. Didn't want to buy wifi extender as Ive had issues w/them before. Can't use direct wifi then won't have internet and perfect golf won't work.
Fix: PC currently has wifi. Bought another usb wifi for $25. Plugged in pc, installed drivers. Attached the skytrak wireless ssid to my 2nd wifi and it worked. Internet then didn't work - so I could play skytrak driving range, but not perfect golf or surf the web. Opened 'Network and Sharing Center'. 'Change adapter Settings'. For the adapter that was connected to skytrak, right click and select 'properties'. Uncheck 'IPv6', select 'IPv4' and click 'properties'
[on my PC, both IPv6 and IPv4 had already been marked as selected. After I unchecked IPV6, the "Properties" button was grayed out. It became usable if I unchecked and then rechecked IPV4].
Click 'advanced'. uncheck 'automatic metric' and put in the number two (2). Save your way out. Do the same for the other adapter [the entire process], but put in ' metric' of one (1).
What this does is tell your computer that when in doubt - use your internet connection (metric 1). the skytrak connection will always talk directly to the pc. It's working GREAT now!!! Hope this helps someone else as you all have helped me.
