SkyTrak Setup in garden

Hi,

I am new on here so apologies if this has already been asked somewhere else.

I am looking to set up a hitting area in my garden (one that can be taken down when I'm not using it). Having read a lot of reviews I am a bit apprehensive on what driving net to use because quite a lot of reviews say that the balls have gone straight through them. So I don't really want a ball going through my neighbour's fence or hitting their house.

I was wondering if anyone had a set up similar to this or used a net indoors and could recommend a good sturdy one that would enable me to use real balls with the skytrak outside? Please note I am in the UK so not all US nets may be available over here.

I use a Net Return. It's very sturdy, thick netting, can be assembled/disassembled in 5-10 minutes, has a storage bag, and comes in multiple sizes. I can't say if they'll ship to the UK though. Probably? I'd recommend getting the widest one they make (6-7 feet?) to ensure the odd shank doesn't sneak past and end up in your neighbors yard. Good luck.

Similar situation to yourself, most of the portable nets I looked at did not look neighbour friendly. I ended up buying a marquee and hanging some archery baffle netting at the end wall. The netting is heavy duty so no chance of a ball going through it. I am sure you could make some sort of frame to hang it on if you wanted something a bit more portable in your garden.

I had the same net, just took it down last night because I finally got the impact screen up. That net is great, and it literally takes 5 minutes to take down and pack away. I liked that the duffel bag that came with it to store it wasn't one that was overly compact (like trying to pack a tent away). Plenty of space made it easy to get in the bag, and no signs of wear that I saw on the net when I took it down. My ball speed on my best day barely reaches 150 but never had an issue with it. And, in my experience, 9 of 10 times the ball rolled back anyway just like the commercials for the Net Return showed. I didn't expect that when I chose this net over a Net Return net. Saved quite a few dollars and looks to be almost as good as the Net Return.

Concur with The Net Return recommendation. I have one indoor and have it sitting against my window. The balls have not even come close to hitting them, though that was my big concern prior to getting it. Now that I'm fully confident that it can stop the ball, been swinging all of my clubs, even driver, at full swing. Also the noise level with it is non-existent, only noise will be you hitting the ball.

I'll third the Net Return. I have it with the additional side netting. Thing is rock solid, plus it's easy to put and and take down. It is a bit pricey compared to other nets, but in my opinion it's worth it.

Net Return is a solid choice. Honestly the thing is built for longevity. Very impressed with the frame and netting.

I built my outside setup using nets from: http://www.coastalnets.co.uk/golf_nets.htm ( 25 x 2.3mm Knotless Polypropylene)
If you can make a frame ( mine are hung inside a wooden pergola ) then these nets are perfect.
Mine have been up for 5 years & are still in perfect condition.

I'd say go with the Net Return as well. I have tried numerous nets (wish I had the money I spent o them back!) and the Net Return is by far the best! You an set it up and take it down easily, and the net itself is super high quality. Before I moved it into my garage, I had it on my patio, right in front of some glass French doors. I had ZERO worries of a ball making it through and smashing my doors.

5th 6th 7th, net return. Bought a CCE mat instead of the net return mat which is much better. All the systems work through wifi, so as long as you have a strong signal, you can run your skytrak over the wifi network, TGC you can mirror onto an ipad if you aren't doing a full blown projector.

Hey there rmyoung88 - I have the net return mat and don't love it either. Not very sustainable for hitting balls. I do like the size though 10' x 6'. I've recently ordered a CCE hitting strip from amazon that I hope I'm going to like much better. I've got to come up with a way to get my stance mat (net return) and cce all leveled up height wise.

DirtyGarry24 have you looked at the Dri-Core boards they have at Home Depot? I thought about using that to put my hitting mat on and then cutting a space out to place a CCE strip I had laying around. I had done something similar with foam gym mats & the CCE strip. After thinking about it too long, I didn't want to bother with it, mostly cause I don't have all the tools handy.

frackh - I'll check that I out and see what I can come up with. I really have no idea what I'm gonna do yet, but surely can come up with something. How thick is the CCE strip? I've got an extra wrinkle to add into my project as well. I have to be able to disassemble the setup to get it out of the way because the room is not dedicated. A 10' x 6' isn't really portable (lol). I'll let everyone know what I come up with at some point. I feel we are hijacking the OP's post at this point so I'll leave it at that for now.

I don't know exactly off the top of my head but it's something like close to 2". I stacked like 3 layers of the foam mats to get close to the thickness of the CCE.

I've put enough balls through different nylon netting/golf nets. Even though the Net return gets great reviews....I was worried there's still a chance at some point a ball will eventually rip through. I think the safest is a dual panel system. I bought the Spornia net a couple months ago and love it. Very fast and easy to setup and take down...and most importantly utilizes a dual panel system. It also returns the ball..but the ball never touches the ground/concrete/hardwood floors.
