Bit the bullet and ordered a Skytrak.. Outside use questions

This year I am jumping into golf more serious than I ever have been and I decided to purchase a skytrak for game improvement reasons.. I have already ordered a FMJ case for it to protect it. I am mainly going to be using this outside of my house hitting into a net, or the range. I've read mostly all the topics on here and there's very few topics about outside use.. Does anyone have an suggestions or recommendations for getting started while using the decide outside? I've read that shade over the device can be good, but I've also read that people have had it in sunlight and no problems.. I'll be hitting off a CCE mat. Any tips or advice is appreciated! Thanks!

I have taken my Skytrak to the range twice.. Once last fall when I was hitting off grass, so all I tried was driver and I did not get one shot to register out of 10 or 15 shots. Last week I tried hitting off a mat (not a super clean mat) and I also did not get a shot to register... but I only tried a few. I think the laser disappeared and top light went red, but nothing happened in the app. I got frustrated after a few shots and shut it off. Let me know if you have some success and any pointers.

I took mine to the range for the first time last week, had issues with it reading shots. It was a cloudy day so bright sunlight wasn't an issue and I was under a hitting bay. I got maybe 1 out of 5 shots to read, I put the Skytrak away after about 10 minutes due to the no reads.

I have taken mine to 3 different ranges (all covered) in a mixture of day, night, wet, dry etc and it has worked in all conditions. In the UK a lot of ranges place the mats inside a rubber base which means the skytrak is difficult to adjust high enough (even with the protective case).

I have only seen misreads when I hit high launching shots with the ball too far back or low launching shots with the ball too far forwards...

On several practice sessions, I've never failed to make Skytrak work outdoors.
[1] It is better to use white balls instead of colored balls.
[2] For driver, raise your Skytrak a bit depending on how high you tee up your ball. If your ball speed is really high, place a ball a little back.
[3] Avoid the direct sunshine to your unit. It will disturb the camera capturing the ball.

Any time you are using sunlight as your primary light source you are going to have problems with the SkyTrak picking up shots. Even though you might be in a covered area the range of light frequencies is still broad enough to cause interference with the ST's cameras.

Will try some of your ideas, thanks guys. One of my times it failed was with the sun behind me (so shining into the skytrak, but at probably like a 45 degree angle, so not directly, but still maybe too much). The successful reports of using it outside will make me keep trying.

I use mine indoors. It's Winter here so light is limited. I have a little late afternoon sun through 1 window. I will get misreads from very little extra light.
