  • First Experience with SkyTrak this evening.

OK. About a week to 10 days ago I posted a question about the certified pre-owned SkyTrak. Well last Sunday I pulled the trigger on the pre-owned SkyTrak plus the full metal jacket and they both arrived today. You would have not known it was a pre-owned SkyTrak based on the box and condition of the unit. It looks brand new and was easy to hook up to my tablet.

Please remember I have never seen or used a skytrak in person so tonight was my first experience. Just a couple words come to mind. Impressive, Cool, Awesome, Fun, Interesting
First it was easy to connect and had no problems.
The FMJ makes me feel safe. I am a 3 handicap that plays tournament golf but the position of the SkyTrak makes you think about the shanks......lol I also have an 8 year old that likes to hit balls with me. So it reduces the stress of him hitting balls also. That is stress on me not him.

Probably hit 100+ balls testing it out tonight and got one misread. I can live with that.
The delay for me is not as issue. I am displaying the numbers on a 40 inch TV behind my net so it gives me time to complete the shot and look up.

I was impressed with the numbers more than anything. I had to travel out of town this week and stopped at a golf shop looking for a gap wedge and hit about 50 shots on their GC2. I was flying the wedge 118 to 120 yards. Tonight with that new wedge in my garage I was getting the same numbers. IMPRESSED.

I am a numbers guy (BS in Engineering) so my mind is racing tonight about what all I need to look at and track.

Being a 3 handicap I know my yardages really well especially my wedges and short irons and they were spot on.

So in the words of ICE CUBE...." Today was a good Day"

Thanks for all the feedback to my questions last week. If anyone is concerned about the preowned units don't be. Jump in and get one and start working on your game and having fun. I am looking forward to evenings hitting balls and watching sporting events in the garage.

    Thanks again.

Let's Go Mountaineers!!!!!!!!! Nice win over Iowa State tonight to close out the regular season.

Getting the same numbers is actually impressive! The ST is easily accurate enough to highlight differences in your performance from one day to the next or in different environments. With a 7 iron at home I average around 116mph ball speed, testing my ST against Trackman a few days ago I was averaging 124mph which is a sizeable difference. As another numbers person I think having this data accessible all the time vs guessing on the range is massively valuable.

Others have mentioned throughout the forum your issue could be mat related or mental. Mat's can have an impact on spin and ball speed, mentally you may be swinging differently indoors vs out.

You seem to have had the same experience as I did the first time I used my SkyTrak! I'm not a 3 handicap, but I knew my short iron distances pretty well from using a laser rangefinder on the course and range, but learning my long iron and woods carry distances, has really helped my on course decision making a lot easier.

If you are thinking about eventually getting some type of simulation software in the future, I highly recommend The Golf Club. Have fun!
