  • v2.5.4 Network Mode Connection Issues in SkyTrak app

Guys, apparently there is still an issue with some of you not being able to connect in network mode using the v2.5.4 SkyTrak app. It's way too hard to track because it's been reported over a series of different threads, mostly which pertain to sim partners. I'd like to keep this thread specific to the issue of the SkyTrak unit unable to connect to the SkyTrak app in network mode.

    1) Is your symptom that the middle light turns solid yellow on unit but never connects to the app?

    2) Have you tried doing a hard reset of the unit since the update?

    3) Does your firmware version say version 1.55 in your Profile (if you connect in direct mode or USB)?

    4) If all of the above have been done, are you positive that your iPad/PC has connected to the same network that you programmed to the SkyTrak unit?

Want to get this resolved as quickly as possible.

I have been in PM with Seth but will post my issues here just in case someone else has had the same issue.

I would also like to preface that I believe some of my internet connectivity issues are related to my Cox internet service. Cox is scheduled to come and rebuild my system next Tuesday as the signals are reportedly awful as per the tech supervisor.

Now, my first connection issue is that I occasionally cannot find my skytrak when I open my iPad settings--wifi. I have gone as far as delet I guess the app and reinstalling, resetting iPad, resetting router, and resetting the skytrak device itself. Doing the above things worked last time but I'm not sure which of the above therapies was the remedy.

My second issue was losing the ability to connect in network mode which hadn't happened before. I don't sim just yet, I just use the driving range and the game improvement bits. I have wanted to WGT for the time being but never gotten around to it. I cannot recall the light colors as this was a few weeks ago and I didn't write it down. After connecting in direct mode, I went through the page to connect in network. I was able to select my network and plug in wifi password but it was never able to connect and kept timing out I believe.

Fast forward to this afternoon. I turned on ST and the app, connected in direct mode, went through network mode interface and BAM! connected network mode again like it never had an issue before. I did happen to be sitting 3 feet from my router when I did this, but I have always connected everything inside the house before taking the iPad and skytrak to the garage.

So, I again bounce back to wondering if it is my home wifi service being excessively random. I pay for 150mbps service from Cox and have done repeated speed tests where I may get over 150 right now and a little later only pull 30. My upstairs is atrocious and often pull in the single digits, even with an access point up there.

Anyway, that's where I sit at the moment. I will update once Cox rebuilds the system next week and/or I have any repeat issues. Also, thanks to Seth for reaching out via PM to try and help troubleshoot.

For the most part, my Sktrak connection has been really solid. As of the last week or so, I have had to reboot my Skytrak usually once before it will connect. I will power on the first time and the bottom two lights will turn red. I will hit the power button to cycle power and on the second power cycle it always connects within 20 seconds or so, and I have no issues after that. I have very few missed shots, and the ones that I do have are usually my fault. (thank goodness for Skytrak Armour!) The power cycle doesn't bother me, since it has always reliably connected on the second attempt. I would be more than happy to work with Skytrak if they want to diagnose this, but it really isn't a big deal to me.

I'm with dborden0 on this. Since connecting non USB, I've not had issues with no reads. I don't give credit to the Armour either, maybe that's a fluke?

I have a friend that's a true geek and he says wifi is wayyy more stable than usb. I just shrug and move on.

This helps none, but I've done the update and I've had zero issues. Another 18 holes this eve with zero non reads or bad reads. Putting was incredible as well as long as I don't try to manipulate the read.

My comment on the Armour was because of my my shanks that come way too close to hitting the unit on occasion. The Skytrak Armour sure makes me feel better about it though!
