  • Driving Efficiency and Spin Axis

I have continued digging into my Skytrak vs Trackman data and have made a few more observations:
As someone who finds the maths and physics of Golf almost as interesting as playing I read and watch a lot in an attempt to improve my under...

Would be interesting to hear if anyone else has found anything similar.

The results seem to fit what most people have experienced and speculated. Skytrak and GC2 typically are more punishing with side spin than the Trackman (and IRL for that matter) and Skytrak carries a little less than the GC2 (mostly on drives).

While I don't have anything "data-wise" to add to this post I do have an observation that confirms your post. My AVG SS is around 110pmph with my driver and on the Skytrak I can typically get my 4 and 5 irons (along with other irons) to be on par with my IRL experience (5 iron avg 195-205; 4 iron avg 210-220)...BUT I have only once gotten my driver over the 250 mark (total distance) and most avg around 230. So to me this would support your observations of lower carry distances and punitive sidespin data. I would assume this doesn't help you but your data did help me...

I am thinking about it in the opposite way. Rather than the ST under-calculating carry distance I think the GC2 over-calculates.

Yes, low spinners, I have seen that.

It is. Until it tells me I carried it 340 yards with 120mph of ball speed and 18000rpm it is obviously wrong! 😀
