Offline options with TGC and JNPG while using Skytrak...

I've looked for info on this subject and sorry if this has been covered already...

I'm a prospective Skytrak user and would like to know what functions offline will work within JNPG and TGC.

My hope is to have a handful of favorite courses available for offline play...if not, what systems offers offline play?

Any advice, directions or revealing info in this regard are greatly appreciated.

so I see a post in the TGC section about there being 15 courses and a driving range available for offline play. This post was in Oct '16.

Has that changed for TGC?...are there more courses of offline play to date?

Still out to dry on finding any info on JNPG...

For skytrak, the answer for JNPG is no. The rapsodo plugin does not launch without network access present, likely because it wants to do license verification. The app itself works fine and all courses are downloaded, so this may be different with a gc2, but I doubt it because both require subscription and that needs to be verified somehow.

I am fairly certain jnpg needs internet access for the *** interface to validate and connect. When the server was down, I couldn't connect my launch monitor and it was due to authentication problems.

there is another connection that doesn't use the *** interface that may not require the authentication but I don't know, I only use the *** interface.

The **** refer to the non built in interface..... my guess is that the gc2 is similar to skytrak because it still needs to validate the sim access pass.

Hows about...

Do I need to maintain an internet connection throughout the round or can I just validate sim access/start my round and disconnect for majority of the round only to reconnect before the round ends?

I many have severe restrictions on my connectivity to the net and wonder if dodging in and out would be possible for casual play of courses that need to be validated before playing?

Could someone perform a quick test to see if an online course is playable by starting with internet and then disconnecting for the majority of the round?

I'm thinking of a potential scenario of connecting through a cell phone hotspot and disconnecting once the game starts...and if possible, going back online towards the end of the round for score and stats submission.

Yes, to play JNPG with SkyTrak you need internet just so the interface between them (simconsole) starts. After that you can disconnect internet. I just confirmed it then - started with internet, disconnected after simconsole started and I happily played JNPG w/ SkyTrak for 30 minutes. I can't tell you if it might re-request licensing after a longer period, but that would unlikely given 30 minutes was no issue. In the worse case you'd just have to enable your mobile hotspot again briefly.

Alternatively if you have an Android phone just leave data on and tell the other apps they can't use cell data. Checking licensing will take a trivial amount of data.
