Everything has always been $ = £ as far back as I can remember... even when the exchange rate was brilliant.
Whether it's mobile phones, computer components, golf clubs, trainers etc... the price in dollars was usually the same as it was in pounds. Us Brits get ripped off!
That's why it used to be so good to actually go to America when the exchange rate was about £1 = $2, as everything was super cheap.
Now that we're at £1 = $1.20ish, it's not nearly as lucrative!
We have to pay VAT on the purchase. The American figure is without tax as different states have different tax amounts and wold be taxed accordingly when their location is put into the purchase. If VAT is 20% then you're actually paying £745 + £150 VAT. So it's actually $895 = £745. Which according to exchange rates at the moment is roughly right.
