"DIY" Club data addon

Hi,

I'm thinking of ordering my Skytrak very soon, but it would be nice to have some club data as well.

I was thinking of adding a cheap Optishot for example. Although Optishot isn't very accurate when it comes to ball flight, I believe it measures clubdata rather accurate?
The fact that the metrics wouldn't be integrated on the software side (separate optishot and skytrak screen) is less of an issue for me.

Has anyone built a setup like this before? Perhaps using another addon component?

Isn't skytrak going to integrate with R-motion swing tracker? It will all be on the same screen and from experience understanding R-motion is better than optishot.

Something like optishot or P3 aren't going to be worth the trouble, in my opinion. I had a P3 and thought about keeping it for the club data, but it was pretty unreliable, and I didn't find the data nearly as useful as what ST was showing me. I think you can learn a lot with the ball data you get from any of the popular launch monitors. I have a Skypro, and that's kind of nice when focusing on practice to see what the club is doing in a sort of macro view.

It should work together, but I imagine you'll be tired of hitting off the optishot mat and setting up 2 different ranges rather quickly, but maybe you're more patient than I am!

I've used the R motion hooked up to the computer with the skytrak connected to the Ipad. It's useful to work on your swing, you get both ball and club and you can hit off your own mat.

Optishot is completely inconstant on club face. Also, you will probably have to tape your clubs to get close. I have hit plenty of shots where I held the face open and Optishot still read as closed. This is one of the reasons I upgraded to the Skytrak. One more issue with Optishot is I found it was necessary to really pick the ball cleanly to get correct distances because hitting the mat before crossing the second sensor slows down the club speed. So I felt it changed my swing and IRL caused me to hit a lot of thin shots.

Anyone know how the R Motion is in terms of durability. I bought a Swingtalk a year ago but it broke kind of fast (didn't want to pair anymore).

I've only had the R motion for 3 weeks now but I've had a few mishaps with it where it's flown off the club (mostly my fault. Happened when not using the provided clips) and it hasn't phased it. No idea how long it will last but hoping a very long time because I'm really liking it.
