  • SkyTrak has a lot of no reads

Is there a way to troubleshoot this through some sort of diagnostic mode?

I have only played this thing around twenty times and it has never been this bad as it has been the past few days. I sometimes have to hit driver four times before it reads. it affects all shots

Mine has gotten almost unbearable in the SkyTrak range. Tons of no reads over and over. What gives?

Are these happening pre or post v2.6.2 upgrade? Thanks.

I agree. It started before the most recent update, so I don't think it's related to the upgrade. I was starting to think that my ST unit was getting old and not seeing as well as it used to.

I'm also getting a lot of no reads & mis-reads with my driver - almost exclusively at night. I used a night vision trail camera the other night, and I realised that the driver head itself lights up like an xmas tree under IR light. At this point, I'm like 99% sure that the camera is seeing the driver head in the picture and giving all sorts of weird and crazy readings. I've bought some non-reflective gaffer tape off amazon which I going to use to cover the toe of the driver and see if the bad reads improve. I'm pretty confident this is going to sort it... (famous last words, I know).

That absolutely sounds like the problem.

Are you connected to your PC via a USB cable? What if you connect to the PC via network mode or even direct mode (if possible)? I'd like to see the results in either of those modes as well in the SkyTrak range.

Also, are you using a white-headed driver? White rubber tee? Either of those can interfere with the images.

RE: the diagnostic mode - I've asked the same question of SkyTrak_Seth before and gotten nothing positive, don't think it's something they're able to help with. I believe it's part of their contractual obligations with Rapsodo which means there isn't anything like a "diagnostic mode". It would be crazy useful when you're experiencing repeat no reads to have some kind of debugging app which would allow you to see the raw image data, even if you couldn't do anything with it. So, Rapsodo - I figure you must have something that you use internally while you're working on the units, any chance you could polish it up a little and release it to the forum?

I have very few no-reads in the skytrak app on ipad however when I use Perfect Golf on my PC I have a ton of no-reads and no-triggers. I saw the latest PG update in the first week or two of May said they fixed the issue but I swear it got worse.

I second this. When I first started using JNPG it worked pretty good but I still had misreads. Now I can barely get through 6 holes without the misreads getting out of hand. Constantly have to go back to the page with "Arm Skytrak" button and either disconnect the SkyTrak and reconnect or just toggle the "Arm Skytrak" button. Tried every mode (direct, network, USB) and they all act the same in the end.

I had a bad episode with no-reads last fall. Got to the point where most shots did not read. Finally after 5 no-reads in a row on solid contatct I called Skytrak and got an RMA #. Before I sent it in I decided to try a reset (bottom button). In 2-3k shots since, I think I have had two no-reads.

Wow, that's surprising. The reset button only reverts the unit to direct mode and clears any network credentials stored on the unit.

(unless you happened to accidentally press the 'don't do anymore mis-reads' button)

Yeah, I didn't expect it to work either, but I can't think of anything else that could have caused a change. The difference was night and day , and immediate.
