Is it loud to play golf in the backyard?

I might be moving down from Seattle area to Southern California.

Since it'll be my first time setting up a golf simulator, I am wondering if I will get any complaints from the neighbors hitting driver shots and stuff if I setup in my backyard.
In Washington state, since we have a big backyard and big lot size, I haven't heard from anyone who got complaints.
But in So.Cal in a city where the houses are densely connected to each other, I'm wondering if it'll be even possible to play a round with friends at say 6-7PM in the backyard, or practice golf in the evening. I want to setup an indoor but the room is too small or the house is more expensive.

I would be very annoyed listening to someone hit their driver over and over again. I can probably tolerate pure iron shots into a soft net but drivers are too loud. I would think you'd feel the same if your neighbor played drums with their windows open and they werent that good.

Thanks for your comment. Would love to hear real experiences more from other people as well (either a person who experienced neighbor's club noises or a person who setup his simulator in his backyard).

This will really be critical in buying my next home considering indoor setup possibility (I have a radar system so I would definitely need at least 20ft long 10ft tall 14ft wide preferably).

It really all depends on your neighbors. I'm from Southern Cal but this goes for any neighborhood with tight lots. They will definitely hear it. Whether they say anything is a different story. Introduce yourself and show up with a 6-pack or bottle of wine. Let them know what your doing and give them your number. If it's too annoying at a certain time, have them send you a friendly "STFU" text or something. I'm outdoors only at the moment as well. I try to avoid driver and even 3-wood in the later hours. My neighbors have never said anything to me though. Hope that helps.

BTW.... I was mainly speaking about repetitive practicing. California does allow you to have friends over and play music and be vocal in your own backyard. The Golf wont be a problem in those cases. If your neighbors complain about that then you have shitty neighbors. Unless you are doing it constantly.

I might hit a driver consistently for practicing of course without me knowing. So, that's something I should still try to keep in mind I guess.

I live in Southern California. At my last house, I played into a net on my patio usually starting at 8pm and done around 11pm. Sometimes it was later. I never received any complaints. My less than 1 year old and less than 3 year old slept in the room next to the patio I played on and it didn't wake them up. My wife said when I played multiplayer, the voices traveled more than the clubs which surprised me. You mileage may vary but I never had any trouble. I did it for about 6 months before I moved and setup my sim in my garage.

I am in La Verne, Ca. I went to UC Irvine for my MBA and lived in Irvine. May want to check rules on Irvine. They have a rule for everything and they have a lot of hoa properties that have their own rules.
