  • Clear Lexan

Does anyone know if SkyTrak would work with a clear sheet of lexan between it and the ball? I would like to have some people over to try out my skytrak, but I am just way too nervous about someone hitting it.

NO GO, does not work. Been tried early on with us making our own cases before members came up with good designs.

I have the skytrak plastic case, which is great for leveling and adjusting the height, but seems pretty pointless for protection. Those metal cases are nice, but don't want to spend that much. I guess I just wont share it!

The plastic case is useless against any significant impact. It is made of a hard plastic which cracks rather than absorbing, deflecting, or usefully distributing substantial impacts. After my plastic case was effectively destroyed by a few errant shots, I purchased one of the two metal cases offered by a couple of our fellow forum members. Well worth it IMO, not just to allow me to share my ST with others from time to time to give me additional enjoyment from it in that way, but also in protecting the device against anything which might happen when I'm using it alone. The ST is somewhat fragile, is expensive, and sits uncomfortably (for me) close to both a swinging club and a ball with some energy behind it - that's enough for me to want to reduce the risk to a negligible level by using a suitably protective case.

Thanks for the responses. I will probably just have to break down and buy one of the metal cases.

I am kind of surprised the lexan doesn't work though. If it is just cameras, and you go through something completely clear, not sure why it wouldn't work.

They were running a $50 deal through ST. Pretty good deal for protecting an expensive and fragile piece of hardware.

Yeah, code METAL50 through the end of June. It's worth it IMO. You'll notice I don't say much about the plastic case, but the new metal one I will stand firmly behind (and so will your SkyTrak unit )
