  • Range setup help

So I took the ST out to the range yesterday because I wanted to toy with my driver settings and see how they impacted spin, flight etc. It was sunny but late in the evening 7pm so not really harsh. I could see the red dot on the grass. I couldn't get any shots to register, tried the tee high, low - moving ST higher up and nada. I did have it in the metal caging so that elevated it a little over the grass. Guess I'm looking for how to set it up on grass to get readings, I couldn't even get iron shots to register. At home I have it on a country club elite matt at the same height and have no issues with readings

Any help greatly appreciated as I would love to use this outside.

Welcome to the party. I have tried it at the range a few times and never gotten a single read. The only thing I haven't tried is having the Skytrak and ball in the shade using an umbrella or something. Guys have said that grass and dirt spray from divots makes it hard on the skytrak so I've even tried a ton of driver hits to no avail. Sorry, no help from me!

I believe the instructions state that if you are using the SkyTrak at a driving range, you should be hitting off of a mat, and not the grass.

Good call. Forgot to mention that one of my attempts was on a mat, albeit an old dirty one. I am just surprised that I haven't got it to pick up one shot out of about 75 shots at the range. Would be cool to watch the flight IRL and on the app. Not too worries about it. I'll give another shot (sorry) soon with an umbrella and see what I get.

Same boat here brotha. Skytrak on grass is next to useless. Your best bet outside is a shaded range on a mat. Too much shit going on when on turf. Skytrak can't handle it from personal experience. Very sensitive on height/level/etc.

Not sure how hitting off a tee on grass would be any different than hitting off a matt with a tee. Would be nice if Seth could impart some wisdom on how to setup outdoors. Do I need to bring an umbrella to make some shade? How high/low does the unit need to be for driver shots?

Biggest tip outdoors is to position the skytrak so that sunlight isnt shining directly into the lens...if possible.
