Woods and Skytrak

Does anyone else have issues with distance using Driver, 3 wood and 5 wood with Skytrak? The distances seems really off by 30 yards on average - irons seem really close espiecally 5 iron - Gap.

We have tested indoors and outdoors with a rangefinder. Tried a few different woods at this point. I thought it may be due to the indoor swing concept but after doing outdoor testing that can't be the problem across 3 decent players

We have ran it through the paces with these players

3 - tester 1
5 - tester 2
+2 pro - tester 3

All similar results and testing done on same mat.

Are you hitting off tees with all these? I've heard some have more joy hitting off tees an inch in front or behind the red dot

How about flight path, and are the distances at least consistently x% low? I ask, because TGC allows a boost % for woods, I guess for this reason.

I have yet to test vs IRL distances yet, so I'm extremely hopeful my skytrak is also 30y short

I recently bought a Skytrak and am unfortunately finding something similar. My 5w seems fine (off ground) but 3w and Driver seem short to to me (off tees). I've never seen my 3w ball speed but for driver it seems a good 5-10mph lower than what I'd expect...

Bpk, out of curiosity what sort of ball speeds would your three testers be expecting out of a driver? I'm not super long but get it out there decently (160-170mph range in my trackman sessions). There was a thread posted a while back by a high speed player that has me worried a bit that it has trouble with accuracy once speeds get above about 150...not sure if he ever got it resolved.

It is consistent and the ball flight is close. If anything it shows the launch a little low. I would expect ball speed in the 160 range. I will try a few 5 woods and 3 woods off the deck and see what comes up.

Overall I will say it's a good unit, I too believe it just struggles calculating higher ball speeds.

The skytrak app, in my experience, does seem to be a bit short. You can boost the the elevation setting to adjust this. TGC seems to calculate those distances better imo..

I have now tested both off the tees and deck with no real distance changes outside with a rangefinder to targets. My unscientific testing so far indicates the unit/software struggles with 5 wood and up.

Could it just be my unit? I have a GC2 lined up to test against on Saturday.

I would be very interested in seeing a formal comparison vs GC2 and even Trackman if you can. I tend to see issues with higher ball speeds as well, at least for sure when over 170 mph. I have had up to 8 mph under-reported ball speed on Skytrak vs Trackman on the same shot. From my observations it seems horizontal angle can contribute to this discrepancy.
