Network Issues.

Hello all !

I'm having network issue and think I have it figured out but ours like to get an opinion. My unit will connect direct mode to my IPad - then to network mode. But soon after being in driving range mode it drops. I have to reset it and do it all over again. I believe the issue is that my network is 5ghz . It says in the support docs that it has to be 2.4 ghz. ( my network is solid , commercial network with 2 access points , coverage and strength anywhere in the house is solid ) if I get. Wifi extender plug in that is a 2.4 ghz and use that as its network - that should solve my issue correct ?

Next because I can't play in network mode , how do I play wgt that was supposed to be with it. Game improvement plan. Do I just go right to the app and log it in and play. Because right now when I get to wgt app it says to unlock through skytrak

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Your router is already broadcasting on both the 5 and 2.4 bands unless you disabled it. Please post your router make and model.

Skytrak will not even see the 5ghz SSID

I think someone mentioned before that the ipad could be bouncing between the 5 and 2.4 and that may be causing the issues.

I've had exactly the same issues as the OP with my new SkyTrak. Any way to prevent the iPad/iPhone from toggling between 5 and 2.4? Unrelated...with my iPad to TV monitor (HDMI connection) I have black bars down the sides of the SkyTrak display. However, the iPhone fills the screen (sort of like a 4:3 format for iPad vs 16:9 for iPhone). Anyone know how to fix that with the iPad?

You may certainly try the extender to see if that fixes the problem. I had to add an extra access point in my garage for network mode to work for WGT (despite having one in theatre room directly above my garage). The access point fixed everything. All apple products by the way.

Lastly, one of the things I found out is that some wifi products will automatically shuffle you from one router/access point to the next so that you always have maximal strength. With the apple products, you stay connected until you drop the signal or turn off wifi. My work around is to turn off wifi while in the house, and then turn it back on once out in the garage in order to connect to the highest signal strength. (That's what my AV guy said^^^^^ I'm no tech wizard these days, unfortunately).

Just go to setting on your iPad then wifi and remove all wifi connections. Then just reconnect you iPad to your network. (The one without 5ghz) after the name. Once you do that you iPad will only connect to that one network.
