  • SkyTrak Won't Register a Single Shot Anymore

I am posting this along with my resolution once the issue is resolved. I was asked to ship the unit back today and I have a loaner on order until the new one is repaired.

Let me start by saying I love the SkyTrak - it has been great the past 6 weeks. I use it daily and also provide lessons using the unit - it's awesome.

I have owned the unit for 6 weeks. It has always been in the protective metal case and has never been struck.

The unit worked great for the past 6 weeks including this past weekend 12-2-2017. Hit over 150 balls on the unit throughout the day with absolutely no issues or too many misreads on shots.

I tried the unit the next day (12-3-2017) and everything appeared to be fine. It connected with the USB connection and I was able to launch the SkyTrak software and connect. All the lights turned green but it would not register a single shot. Here are the troubleshooting steps I took:
    • Connected via USB Mode, Network Mode and Direct Mode on my PC.
    • Connected via my PC and also tried my iPAD – always connected fine and shows the red dot – it just never reads a ball.
    • Leveled the unit again with my hitting mat
    • Took the unit out of the protective case and tried to hit balls
    • Did a hard reset on the unit until all the lights turned amber
I reviewed all the online posts and certainly made sure I was not wearing reflective disco pants, bright white shoes, or casting shadows on the unit. It has the latest software versions and is on the latest firmware,

Normally when the unit was working if I waved something in front of the red laser it would flicker off and the top light would flash red before returning to green. Now when I try and the get the laser to flicker off it just stays on.

I spent 30 minutes with support today. My only real disappointment was I needed to escalate to management to get a loaner sent out. The unit is barely 6 weeks old (it came in on October 21st) - I would think it would be common practice to work with a customer to arrange for a replacement - Its not like I had it for 90 days.

    More to Come...

    Thanks!!!

Put it in left handed mode and see how you go as a lefty, as SkyTrak duplicates some of the hardware on each side.

I was having a similar problem...Everything was working great and than I wasn't getting any reads.

It felt to me like it was related to the code update on the SkyTrak application, which doesn't make a lot sense.

I have taken the following steps and things are much better.

      1) Reset the unit to local mode to ensure that network isn't causing an issue. The amount of no reads went to almost zero.
      2) Put the unit back in network mode. The amount of no reads increase, but were acceptable
      3) Put lines on a ball. This seems to really help with the no reads.
      4) Starting using a Truvis Callaway ball (red). Very few no reads.

I know my hitting area does cause some no reads...It is in my garage and my car is right behind the hitting area. I think the white bumper and chrome could cause issues, but given I live in Minnesota and it is cold out, the car has to stay where it is.

It might be my impression, but I think the camera has gotten more sensitive since I purchased the unit in June.

I think the lines or Truvis ball really help the unit "see" the spin on the ball. It also feels like the "trigger" changed and I more often see the unit not "trigger" (i.e. the red dot stays on).
