  • New skytrak not recording any shots

    New skytrak user here, it turned up yesterday

    i took the skytrak to the range tonight to give it a try, as my sim room is still to be built.

    the skytrak isn't recording any shots at all, so looking for things to try to get it to work

    the skytrak has been registered and connect to the app in direct mode, it was set level and not in alignment mode and level with the hitting mat but records nothing, I tried chips pitches and full swings

    the ball was always placed on the red dot and all lights were green on the unit

    could it be the light in there as the range has bright lights above all of the bays

    or could it be the balls, as the ranges around here all use yellow balls(I had marks towards the unit) and I can't use my own and go and collect

    anything the experts on here could suggest for me to try, or a number of things to try as im sure I must be doing something wrong

    I'm in the UK and not much phone signal at the range to get on the internet to google so need a few suggestions before I get there

    I think any sort of bright, direct lighting into the camera window will cause issue. I've experienced this at the range when I first got the unit. The unit was facing the sun and I got maybe 1 of 10 shots to get picked up. Others have reported this as well so be aware of your light source direction.

      Did you remove the protective clear plastic film from the camera

        Yeah film removed from both sides

      yellow balls could be the culprit as well.

        I've just tried chipping a few shots of a dark carpet with a real white ball with little and no light inside the house and still no shot showing in the app which I downloaded today

          If you are a righty, is it by chance in left hand mode?

          switch it left hand mode and swing over the top of the unit and see if it launches a ball then. If so, might be a defective unit.

            Make sure you level the device with an actual bubble level. I recently experienced something similar. I was using the software to level the device and having some issues. I used a level and now it picks up every shot.

              Maybe you have a "wrong" swing. If the swing after strikes is too in, the ST apperture can't start the camera.

              Try to work with placing of the ball. Not always is the red dot correct. It will usually help to place the ball 1-2 inches beyond the red dot (away from the target) and closer to the ST unit.

                Thanks i'll give that a try - i did try some straight back and straight thru chips to see if it was the swing but not reading them either

                I will give the ball placement a go, i did try more towards the unit and further away but closer to the target (so in front of the red dot) but not sure whether i tried further away from the target

                I have purchased the game improvement package and activate that this morning ready for TGC, so wondering if the registration of the free package hadn't worked before - will try again tonight and see if it works

              All sorted - it worked fine at the range the 2nd time i tried it - i think it was the lighting, as the time i went back their lights were off and it worked perfectly and that was with yellow balls that didnt have any marks on them.
