  • SkyTrak Battery Health

I had accidentally let my SkyTrak battery run to almost zero the other day (where the unit had to shut itself off but when I turned it back on it had 2% battery left so I quickly shut it down and charged immediately). After that, I can no longer charge my ST to full or near full capacity anymore. Now after battery is fully charged, the SkyTrak app only shows 55% battery left (whereas in the past it used to show 85%+ battery left). Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before or has very low percentage showing after unit is fully charged?

SkyTrak_Seth or SkyTrak_James, do you know if this might happen after battery was accidentally almost totally drained (I remember reading somewhere before where SkyTrak_Seth suggests not to let battery totally drain)? Or battery just needs to be re-calibrated - and if so how to re-calibrate? Or my SkyTrak's battery is actually coming to the end of its life (I've had my SkyTrak for almost 3 years now) - and if so is there a way to check its battery health? Thanks.

i had a situation with battery life, where the app on my computer wasnt showing properly. I would let it charge and the lights were turning from charging to charged (yellow to green) and when i took it off the charger and fired up the app it would show like 75 or 80 percent instead of the full charge. I havent had my skytrak nearly as long as you did, but after like update 2.6 or something like that it corrected the issue for me. I had brought it up in another post and Seth mentioned an update was coming, so i guess that indirectly fixed it. He didnt mention that the update was supposed to fix the problem specifically so maybe i was just lucky. But since its been showing full green battery and lasting for about the normal time expected.

Thanks. So you get like 5-6 hours on full charge? I think I'm only getting 2-3 hours on full charge now... I wonder if there is a guideline in terms of time or number of hits before battery needs to be replaced?

havent let it completely die out on me before, but i know for sure at least 4 hours, only reason i know is because i record my practice sessions (a down the line view) and a buddy of mine came over and we competed on some yardage challenges and i had over 4 hours of video. I think i got down to like maybe 20% or something like that. I did find out though that you can use the unit while plugged in (dont know why i didnt ever try it before) but if you have any type of outlet or 100' extension cable hook it up and let it wrong on electricity instead of battery...unless somebody in here says to do otherwise lol

I recently noticed that my battery only read 84% in the Skytrak software after charging all night. I have let the battery run down completely a couple of times in the 2 yrs I've had the skytrak, but I don't recall seeing this until recently.

Is there an expected reduction in battery strength after allowing a complete depletion? Or is there an expected battery lifespan?

Do sims like TGC have a battery indicator?

I believe sims don't have the ST battery indicator - just the ST app. SkyTrak_Seth, any thoughts about putting ST battery level indicator into the sims so that people don't accidentally let battery drain to almost zero while playing sim? Thanks.

I was never really paying attention but I noticed today that even after a full charge....when i first turn on the skytrak and connect to the iOS app it shows the skytrak battery 100%S. BUT it quickly drops to 92/91% after a few seconds. If i connect the charger it’ll jump to 100% and after disconnecting from the charger quickly drop to 92/91% again.

My SkyTrak's battery after a full charge starts at 78%. Is this normal? SkyTrak_Seth, should I reset (by using pin to reset from bottom of unit) or resetting simply only erases wifi login details but does not really do any other resets to the machine? Thanks.

If your battery is in good shape and fully charged it will show 100% upon startup...at least mine does.

If I'm playing for a long period of time, say have 4-5 buddies over for a round, I'll attach a portable battery to the skytrak to keep it charged. I have the battery pack attached to the skytrak with velcro. You could just leave it plugged in, but that doesn't work good for me because we constantly move it from righty to lefty and back.

I guess my question is: When I connect my SkyTrak app to my SkyTrak unit w the SkyTrak unit plugged in, the app shows 100% battery, but the minute I pull the USB plug from the SkyTrak unit, the battery level on app instantly goes down to 79% (https://streamable.com/51hzf). Does this mean my SkyTrak's battery is getting old and only holding 79% of original capacity? Or is this a bug or problem w the app (as previously when SkyTrak first came out, brand new units were not able to show 100% battery level due to some software bug SkyTrak has since fixed)? Thanks.

Mine does the exact same thing. Not sure what to think of it.

Sounds to me like your battery is taking a dump....
