Just got my Skytrak two weeks ago and still not used as ipad pro just won't connect. Sometimes manage to get direct mode but drops quickly and will not stay connected at all in network mode, although yellow light on unit stays solid yellow. I've tried all of the normal resets, it's been back to Skyhawke who say no issues, spent loads of time chasing support which to date is a joke. Nearly £2k of kit and currently a very expensive ornament. Only have 2.4ghz in house so not that and honestly I am lost with what to do next. Spoke directly to USA support tonight and emailed all info but based on current response I am really worried that I've made a very poor investment. Any ideas anyone

First, welcome to the forum and don't get disgruntled yet. There are a number of folks here that are very knowledgeable and very helpful.
Just throwing out a couple ideas here and others smarter than I will come along and chime in, but a couple things come to mind. First, are you near your router with a good solid signal? My skytrak is out in a the garage and I can get a signal on my laptop if facing the right way, but the connection for skytrak will connect and drop since the signal is not too strong. So when using my computer for TGC I connect to ST via USB. Second, does your wifi name have any capitals in its name? For some reason I recall that it all has to be all lower case....but my memory on that is a tad foggy at the moment. In regards to the direct mode, my wild guess is one of two things is happening. One, your Ipad is dropping the skytrak wifi signal and connecting to another wifi signal due to a priority setting, or your skytrak is connected to your ipad and drops the ipad connection because it gets a sniff of your home wifi and tries to connect. When using my ipad jsut to use the ST range, I don't use network mode, I solely use the direct conncetion due to the less than ideal wifi signal I have in my garage.
Again, just a few ideas that I have come across in the past that might be pertinent to the troubles you are having. I will say I did have some growing pains in the beginning and the thought did cross my mind that it wasn't the best purchase in the world, but once I got things squared away between trial and error and the folks on this forum, that thought quickly went away.

Thanks for the welcome and ideas. There is actually no issue with my home network with anything else I use so I know that isn't the problem. Plus I get the full yellow middle light telling me that the Skytrak is indeed on my network, however, my ipad (or the app) doesn't actually connect to the Skytrak. I have reset the unit a number of times and gone through the direct mode set up but nearly always get the same result. My ipad sees the Skytrak network and attaches to it but then goes into a loop of connecting, reading license files, connected and then in seconds drops the connection back to discovering. I have set the ipad to manually accept networks, so it shouldn't keep searching and flipping networks and currently lost with little to no help from Skygolf. In fact your one post has offered more possible help than 6 hours chasing Skygolf here in the UK and USA yesterday, so thanks and hope for input from others on this great site.

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. I did manage to get direct mode outside away from my network today but once in the house, no chance. To prove a point I borrowed my wifes PC when she came in from work. Installed the PC app and low and behold direct mode in the house and then straight into network mode, so I guess that means it's not a network issue but something to do with my ipad pro or the IOS app. Over to you guys if you've anything to add?

Don't have another ipad and unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on my macbook using parallels. I switched off my router completely and tried but again dropped signal in the house. Yet outside it will go into direct mode. GGRRRR this is really getting me annoyed now as apple support no use either

Have you tried this?

Put in your home SSID and password. (make sure to click done after each setting)Known issues with 5ghz networks. Make sure you use the correct security settings. Most new devices are WPA2 but older networks will use WEP. I have seen in some networks where the SSID has to be exactly the same to work (Caps/spaces/numbers/etc..)Tips:- Users can try positioning the ball a tad forward of the red dot for super high launch shots since the ball isn’t traveling forward as much.
- Closing App from range to home. Double click the home button, swipe Skytrak app upwards to close
if you look at the email it has a code on it.
looks like:
SKYTRAK - ###############- activate now
do not use the activate now button, use the Activate link:
to activate Activation Only for a skycaddie not listed above click here: Activate

Have you deleted the SkyTrak application on the iPad and reinstalled. I have an iPad Pro and haven't had any issues.
Another troubleshooting step I would take is close every iPad application, do a hard reboot of the iPad, and only start the SkyTrak application. It is rare, but there may be another application causing issues, especially if the app is doing something in the background with wireless.
I also have experienced iPad/Skytrak issues when I have WGT and SkyTrak apps open at the same time. I alway terminate both apps.
Best of luck,
Clark

Well thanks everyone for their suggestions to try and solve my issue. I just thought that I would post my resolution in the hope that it may help someone else. I downloaded an app called AirPort Utility which helped me scan for any conflicting local internet interference and cutting the long story short I came across another network on my channel that was causing my issue. Using the app I found a channel with no internet traffic on it and changed my router to that setting. I now have my Skytrak working with my ipad pro and hopefully that will be an end to my issue. Thanks again everyone for your help
