  • R-Motion or SkyPro for v3.1?

With 3.1 coming soon (in beta), I'm looking to pick up one of these to help with my practice sessions. I prefer accuracy over convenience and don't mind switching the device from club to club during a practice session.

Anyone who has used both have a preference?

I have the skypro...would love to compare them myself. To speak on the skypro I think backswing length past parallel is usually always wrong and also the same for angle of attack seems to always be wrong. I have seen people talk about changing the length in settings of clubs (i do have an extra inch on all my clubs so maybe i need to look in to this). Really i use it just for clubhead speed calculations personally. If i hadnt got my skypro before getting my skytrak and also before r-motion was out i think i mightve got the r-motion just because you actually can play sim golf with just a net and the r-motion, plus the addition of making changes to different clubs being easier with up to 14 different attachments. Its not overly terrible but anything made easier is always welcomed. So if i were in your shoes i think i would go r-motion just because of the ease. both have their own calculations and measurements with variance so its just technology depending on which one you think you can trust more is what i'd say my opinion is.

I tried the R-motion before I got my ST and I ended up sending it back within a week. It didn't work well for me at all and customer service was horrible. I have a Swingbyte 2 and I like several of their features, particularly the ability to interface video of my swing along with the analysis. Although I haven't used it since December when I got my ST, I question the accuracy. It almost always indicated I had an inside to outside swing, and I have seen video of my swing now and I go over the top. Biggest downside is the Swingbyte 2 doesn't attach to my clubs very well and shifts after each ball strike. I am interested in the Skypro, especially with the new features in the beta for ST.

dagratest816 do you have any issues with the Skypro staying in place while you're swinging?

funny you ask, as of recent (the other day earlier this week when i tried to use it) it had started slipping, it came with some rubber taping that attached to the skypro that it might be time for replacing. They sent a couple other pieces to attach to it. so it might be about that time.

Thanks for the feedback. I typically hit a bunch of 1 club (30 8-irons) on the range during practice as opposed to switching often so ease of swapping isn't as important as getting the correct data. I also have the Zepp glove sensor that I like for video capture more than anything else. I'll keep trying to figure it out.

        Hi Mike, or other readers,

I was wondering if you can shed some light on the product comparison?

Would be great to hear from people that own both products!

What is the most accurate way to measure swing path and club face positions?

        regards

I have the skypro, it does not do club face position at impact, only during the swing. Club plane is awesome, however, you do have to know 'how' to interpret the numbers and data. i dont believe that from a shaft attached device you can get accurate data at impact, unless you are using something that photographs it like a GC2 with HMT, any device that tells you it can, i would suggest is nothing more than a guess, impact point and shaft torque are too much of a factor.

I can say that the skypro is worth the money, the groove mode really does help you make the changes once you have identified them, it is good value, but i would use it in conjunction with a coach unless you are very sure of what you are changing and why

Hi, thank you for your reaction and good to hear you like the skypro. Can you comment on the 'groove mode' - how does that work?

Also, you mentioned it gives club face data during the swing - what does this mean exactly? What type of data is being generated and at what point(s) ?
