PC to run skytrak software/ JNPG or E6

Just purchased a Sky Trak last month and loving it so far. Want to use a PC to power the sim software and eventually JNPG or E6. Eventually going to build out a full simulator in the garage in the fall. Anway what do most people use for PC power? Seems like you don't need overkill on the graphics card. I have looked at the Alienware Alpha series of desktops and they seem pretty capable of powering the native SkyTrak software and any simulator software added later. Anyone have any recommendations? I don't mind a slight delay in shot output and it seems that is fairly normal for the Sky Trak. Overall very pleased with its performance so far. Thanks for any recommendations regarding PC builds. If possible I would like to keep things smaller (mini ITX) and connect to a TV prior to buidling out my full simulator.

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but I took an older PC and added an older graphics card (GTX 660 50$ Craigslist), upgraded my PSU and voila. I was given the old computer from work, but I put less than 150$ into it and it plays JNPG with no issues.

Are you running the pc version or the Sim version of JNPG? Sim version requires more robust graphics card

So the Alienware Alpha would be overkill? I kind of want a low profile setup on a small movable cart with the TV on top for now since I kind of set up my net whenever and where ever around the garage and parking area right now.

What is the difference between the PC version of JNPG and SIM? I thought you bought it on PC then paid for the Sim anual pass. Is this not correct?

I maxed out all the video settings and got some lag, backed off a bit and lag went away. I wouldn't go any lower than a 1050ti on GPU. Used to play on my sons PC with a non-ti 1050 and it definitely looks and runs better on mine.

The Alienware has a pretty lousy GPU, and the cost of nice GPU, 1050ti and above, is so crazy because of crypto currency mining. Think I may just go for a build around $700 and get rolling.

It took me a while to get mine built as I was just collecting components as I could find good deals. I was able to get the GPU for about $200 on Amazon, which is still a stupid price for a 1050ti but reasonable by today's stds. On Craigslist I was able to find a used 27" monitor for $50, a new 2TB hard drive for $20, and a 256GB SSD for $125. Paid too much for the SSD, but it makes my computer boot up super fast (10 secs from off to log on) and I have JNPG installed on that drive. I don't have the total added up on mine but I would guess I'm around $700 all in.

I am running the sim version, but I don't think there is much difference between the two. It would just be the extra computing power for the sim interface as game graphics are the same.

I was planning all of my components to build my own gaming PC just for the simulator when I stumbled upon such a good craigslist deal that I couldn’t pass it up. Graphic designer who needed bleeding edge system was dumping his “old crappy” one... GTX 980ti (approx equal to 1070), 32G ram, 500G ssd, & 2x2TB hdd... overkill for JNPG, but at $900 I couldn’t say no... especially not with today’s inflated GPU prices. Came with a ton of peripheral gear too. Kind of bummed that I’m not building my own… Next time!

Incidentally, just for kicks I loaded JNPG on my business laptop (pc version only) It has a dedicated GPU but it’s only at 940MX… The fans run a lot but it plays it pretty well

I put a Radeon 480 on a cheap computer , works fine for Jnpg, think tgc is a bit more graphics intensive from what I've read. Have to dial back the settings a bit but not too much difference to my super duper computer that I paid £1500
