Official v3.2 SkyTrak App Release

SkyTrak_Seth My 3 Skytrak are for commercial purpose in my venue so I am a little cold to try again/test the update. Could you tell us if the 64bits on W10 is now working (C++ included in the update or still have to install it appart?)

Hi Seth,
Here are further testings I did today with the same Win10 laptop. Connection mode is Direct.

1. Uninstalled v3.2 and deleted the SkyTrak subfolder in \users directory
2. Installed v3.0.2 which is also on older Win7 laptop
3. Hit a variety of clubs from GW, 9i, 5i, Hybrid, to Driver. Total of 261 shots
- There were 4 noreads with irons. Most are because I hit fat that moved the mat or skulled shots that were really low.
- The driver experienced the most amount of noreads (6-7) which I attribute to ball positions and tee heights
4. The SkyTrak unit went into RRG state 2 times but recovered after 10-12 seconds unlike v3.1.1 or v3.2 which usually just stayed RRG
5. I didn't test with iPhone or Win7 laptop because I just wanted to prove to myself that there are real observable issues with v3.2 while keeping the constant (Win10 laptop) unchanged
6. My previous practice sessions with the Win7 laptop are pretty similar to the one on newer laptop running v3.0.2
7. Graphic performance with the newer laptop is crispier. Aside from this difference I didn't see any crazy RRG state changes or constant misreads/noreads compared to v3.1.1 or v3.2

At this point I must say that there is definitely something amiss with the 2 latest versions because there are enough users with similar feedbacks. Let me know if you need me to do further testings. I'd be more than happy to help.

Unfortunate that paying customers have to do beta testing on a product all the while paying a subscription fee. What exactly is RRD? Since the last update my skytraks laser turns off and on intermittently and will not read shots when it is off. Yet another problem for an already faulty product.

Hi Seth,
Finally found time to install 32-bit v3.2 on my Win10 laptop without issues related to OS errors, etc. Due to time constraints with my job and a baby on the way SkyTrak is my only option for golf. It goes without saying I really want it to work flawlessly like most of other members' SkyTraks. Below is a summary of my observation and feedback:

1. Win10 laptop
- Direct mode
- Battery was at 85% (full charge after 2 days still only show that much btw).
- Hit 19 shots with 9i without issues.
- 20th shot was a misread, then the unit went into RRG state for a full minute before I cycled off/on.
- Second session I was able to hit 3 shots and then device went into RRG state again. Waited for 2+ minutes but it wouldn't connect to laptop.
- Disconnected laptop and proceeded to use iPhone 7.

2. iPhone 7
- Direct mode.
- Battery was at 65%.
- Used same club to hit 170+ shots with just 2 misreads.
- Unit went into RRG state after about 1.5 hours since switching to iPhone 7. Total uptime ~2.5hrs.
- Cycled off/on and managed to hit another 15 shots before battery depleted to 5%.

Positives:
Graphic improvements over v3.0.2 and other features are A+. Keep up the good work and continual support
I particularly like the swing speed estimates and shot height. The former appears to be more inline with my real world swing speed. At some point I will try it with my SSR to see the variations. I'm cognizant of the SSR's limitations but I know it's consistent with my measured SS.

Negatives:
Instabilities with the noreads and RRG state continues to persist from v3.1.
This is a problematic issue because my Win7 laptop (v3.0.2) and iPhone (v3.1) do not exhibit similar issues at all from misread and RRG state average. Note that I purposely did not upgrade iPhone to version 3.2 so I can have a stable baseline of v3.1+ train to compare.

If it warrants I may uninstall v3.2 from Win10 laptop and install v3.0.2 that I still keep a copy of. I do not want to install v3.1/v3.2 on my 6yr old Win7 laptop because it lags significantly.

So the disconnects only happen on Win10? If it goes RRG, then that means the computer has dropped the connection to the SkyTrak Wi-Fi. If it happened on all your devices, then I would say maybe it's a faulty Wi-Fi module on the unit itself. But the fact that it's only on the Win10 computer makes me think that the computer is hopping over to another network. When you drop connection in the app, can you take a look at the computer's Wi-Fi list and see if it reconnected to your home network?

Referring to the post above, it would be really helpful to know if the computer remains connected to the SkyTrak Wi-Fi when it goes RRG. There's no SDK change (which handles the unit connection) in any of these releases, so I'm baffled as to how any connectivity issues could arise.

Another update, another 6 hours trying to get skytrak working again. And to top it off the new addition isnt even available in practice mode. Like im going to spend another $200 per year on a device that only works sometimes after I already paid 2k for the thing to begin with. Skygolf business model = we have thier money so who cares. I have spent more time trying to get my skytrak connected to my pc than I have spent using it. If something is still in Beta testing they shouldnt sell it for 2k.

Have you tried installing the 64-bit version since we added the Visual C++ installer package? (if you read back a bit, that was the issue on some Win10 machines - that package was missing, so we just added it to the installer).

Yeah, unit is not armed if the laser is off so it can't read any shots. Is your unit in a metal case? If so, is it the official SkyTrak metal case? Does it turn off and on constantly, even if you aren't standing in front of it?

Yes laser turns on and off intermittently while standing in front of unit. Once would not turn on again. Had to close out skytrak and restart the unit. Also had a session this weekend where it was no reading 50÷. That happens sometimes but usually about 1 of 10 are no read. Will have to try 64 bit again sometime i guess.

SkyTrak_Seth. Some additional info. Last week, I actually tried installing windows c++ 2010 whatever per instructions i found in this thread, prior to reverting to 32bit version. That did not help at the time. In fact my pc already had such software installed and I even tried removing it and installing the older version that the link from here told me to get. If I get time some day Ill try installing the new 64 bit version. (No broadband here so doing these things is time consuming)

My skytrak has always been in a metal FMJ case I think gen 2. I have always had issues with no-reads and mis-reads. Tonight I removed the skytrak from the case after having 3 straight no-reads. I no longer had streaks of no-reads. I had 3 scattered no reads in 39 subsequent shots. No blatent misreads. I also had no more trouble with laser off and on. It would turn off for just a second as i rolled a new ball into position but would immediately come back on.

I see the new skytrak official case is slightly different in the front. I wont buy another expensive case but maybe I can modify mine to look more open in front like the official.

Ill try to give you more feedback in the future on this.

SkyTrak_Seth Just an update. Still using 32 bit.
I tried the skytrak again tonight without the protective metal case, and had 3 noreads in first 7 attempts. and 4 in the first 13. Its always on well struck shots. It picks up any fat, thin, hook or push just fine but if I nail it... nothing. After hitting the shot the top light is red and the laser is off, for 3 to 5 seconds, but no read. Before hitting shot, all 3 lights green. So much for the theory that the case was the culprit.

I was frustrated after that so went to pitch shots 50 yds, and it even no read one of those, but only 1 of 20.

Using nice new B330s balls. Logo pointed toward unit, directly on red dot. Indoors, no direct sun. Unit set level with mat but not on mat. I dont know what else to do.

I test the new package update (but I installed the C++ package you mentioned before) and the 64bits seems works perfectly now on W10 thanks you. I test it more tomorrow before I upgrade the two others sims and let you know.

Skytrak_Seth: Nice upgrades. Being able to scroll through the shot session both forward and backward is a real plus....especially to review visual flight path and optimizer. Tracers really look good. Initially installed 64 bit version and couldn't get a direct connect, my normal mode of operation, nor was I able to connect via internet just trying to move forward. Installed the 32 bit and all is fine. I assume Win7 (I have 64 bit) may have some of the C++ package issues I see ref in other posts, but rather than putz around with the system, I'll leave the installation 32 bit. Keep up the great work. Anything yet on an HMT like add on/upgrade?

What happened to the option to leave 50 shot traces on screen in practice mode? This was on of my favorite features....

It's still there. Must have just defaulted to Single Tracer on the upgrade. You can change this in the in-game setting menu in the upper right.

Greasegun, to me it sounds like you don't have a Game Improvement Plan. I saw where you mentioned somewhere else about only having access to the basic practice range. Do you think maybe your subscription ran out?

Never had game improvement plan. Used to be able to use the 50 shot feature.

It does default to single tracer after upgrade - (the offset changes too as does the altitude etc.) but post-upgrade I always put them back again to where I like them. The 50 shot tracer option is definitely OK in the new upgrade - I just hit 50 shots with that option and they all showed fine. The drop down menu has all the usual options.

I upgraded Win10 laptop to v3.2.1 64-bit for the tests. Below are my observations with latest version:

1. Connected via USB mode
- Hit 54 shots with 9i & 6i
- 3 noreads and zero RRG state change
- This I can live with

2. Switched to WiFi Direct Mode
- Hit 18 shots then the laptop crashed and SkyTrak's LEDs changed to RRG
- Rebooted laptop and power cycled SkyTrak

3. Continued with Direct Mode
- Hit 117 shots with wedge, 9i, 6i
- 4 or 5 noreads and 3 RRG state changes
- Each time I verified that laptop's WiFi still connected to SkyTrak instead of another AP
- Session was re-established in 6-8 seconds which is much better than previous sessions under v3.2 and earlier
- Note that earlier tests were done with 32-bit versions

All in all I'm impressed with the latest version. Thank you for your hard work, Seth!

Is it to be expected that Direct Mode won't perform consistently, e.g. fewer RRG state changes, as USB mode?

Hi all, im pretty new to the golf sim world and these forums. I thought id post my experience with the limited time ive spent hitting balls on the latest update although I cant really compare it to any previous versions as Ive not had going for long.

After the update I had just received the FMJ protective metal case, I was getting consistent misreads but this was due to placement in the case as after I went back to the packaging and found the 3 screws and screwed the unit to the case I have almost no misreads whatsoever in the Skytrak app. When I do have a misread it is usually down to a poor shot. I have started to use wifi direct and that has been more consistent for me than usb direct, possibly because the usb was on a 5m extension?
