Anyone using the skytrak android app or is it worth messing with? Curious if it would be more or less problematic than the pc version? Would be using on galaxy s7. Thx

Skytrak on Android

I just got my skytrak a week ago and I love the Android app. Using it with my pixel 2 and so far the Android app is way better than my surface pro 3 laptop.
Android app has had no connectivity issues, no misreads, and the shot lag is minimal. Definitely give it a go, it's great for me.

Just tried my skytrak paired with my samsung galaxy s7 for the first time. Used direct connection. It connected and worked, except out of 25 swings it failed to register 10 of them. Of the 15 it did register, 2 were complete misreads. Every time I would hit a solid shot it would not register it. If I hit the shot fat or thin it would read, but not if I hot it solid. This is the same problem I have with the PC with USB connection. Its as if higher spinning or higher ball speed shots wont read. If this is normal for skytrak I hate to say it but this unit is a complete waste of money.

For weeks I was connecting my Skytrak to my old phone, a LG G5 Android. It connected quickly and was very accurate. Not many mis-reads. There was a very slight delay, maybe 2-6 seconds I'd guess. But I don't mind this at all. I need to take time between shots or else I don't take the time I need. But, I ended up giving my LG G5 to a family member.
I tried to connect the Skytrak to my new phone, a Google Pixel 2, but so far I can't get it to work. I use the same method I used with my LG G5, and the phone or Skytrak won't connect. The Pixel 2 is a newer phone, so I have no idea why it wouldn't work. It's starting to get frustrating to be honest.
I had to grab my wifes iphone to get the skytrak to work again. But, she's not always around, and she likes to use her phone for music or to talk to friends, so I can't continue to take it for my golf use.I am not sure what to do at this point,

That's not normal at all. The fact that the 2 it did read out of the 15 fails were misreads, then my best guess is that there is something setup-related going on. There's nothing about a device (phone/tablet/computer) that would cause misreads or failures to read...the only difference you'll see is in the shot-to-show delay. Are you able to provide a picture of your setup?Originally posted by Greasegun View PostJust tried my skytrak paired with my samsung galaxy s7 for the first time. Used direct connection. 2 of the 15 shots that it did read were complete misreads. the other 13 looked as expected. 1 was a well struck shot, everything looked normal until it landed and it showed 15yds of rollout on a 7 iron with 3k backspin. my solid hit 7 iron backspins 7k normally. the 2nd misread showed my shot pulled 10 degrees left. it hit my backstop right on center line so no chance it was pulled that bad.
i will work on getting a pic uploaded here. thanks

HI Greasegun
Just a quick tip,
GET RID OF THE WHITE TEES
They mess with skytrak's ability to read the white ball, you'll get much better numbers and readings once you dump the white tees.
I use the same FMJ, if the skytrak is not positioned and aligned SPOT ON , it won't read, and numbers will be off when it does.
Make sure the unit is not too far back from the FMJ face, gap needs to be very small between unit and the face of the FMJ, check your FMJ instructions again for mm gap.
Good luck.Last edited by HappyGilmore102; 07-09-2018, 11:17 PM.
