  • Ordered unit, prepping the space, have a lighting question

Stumbled into Skytrak, spent a couple days reading, ordered just about everything that I need to put together a hitting area / sim. I have some questions about lighting best practices, and I haven't had alot of luck searching around here for Skytrak build out threads.

I'll be dedicating a 9' wide, 9' high, 12' - 15' long area of the garage to this setup. Immediately overhead (roughly) of the hitting area I simply have a 600 lumen LED light bulb.
I also plan on hanging the 3,500 Lumen projector over, and just behind, the hitting area.
This is the far bay of the 3 bay attached garage, and i have alot of lighting in the lighting in the 1st bay. (3) 3000 lumen LED shop lights basically. I can turn these off separately at a small inconvenience.
Natural exterior light is a non issue.

How sensitive is the Skytrak to all of these LED lumens? I see alot of talk about ball position relative to the laser dot, avoiding too much light going into the photolenses... Shoul I be concerned?

    Thanks!

As long a nothing is shining directly into the SkyTrak's lenses, you should be OK. I have double florescent tubes directly over my hitting area, and I have no issues. Just make sure your background is dark (the area behind you) and be careful of wearing bright white shoes or using white clubs. They can cause misreads.

I use LED in my basement set up and have a single 48” length overhead, hangs slightly behind unit as to not reflect light, and on drop chains (couple inches from ceiling joists), 9’ ceilings. I also have just some single LED bulbs that are scattered throughout the basement for basic/general builder provided lighting. Basement is not overly bright, would describe as dimmer than finished space lighting. 99.9% of shots read well.
