  • IPAD LTE Query

    Hi,

The new iPAD 2018 has 2 models - one "wifi only" and the other "wifi and cellular" https://www.apple.com/uk/ipad-9.7/specs/

To connect to both my SkyTrak (Windows PC) and SkyPro (iPAD tablet) would I need to purchase the wifi + cellular optiomodel, or is WIFI sufficient? I seem to recall LTE being a requirement for the SkyPro integration?

    Cheers,
    Andy

I believe the connection is via bluetooth for the SkyPro and WiFi or USB for the SkyTrak. You shouldn't have to get the model that has cellular capability.

Reason for asking is the following...
      Wi‑Fi model

      • Wi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/
ac); dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz); HT80 with MIMO
      • Bluetooth 4.2 technology
      Wi‑Fi + Cellular model

      • Wi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/
ac); dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz); HT80 with MIMO
      • Bluetooth 4.2 technology
      • UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC‑HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
      • CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz)
      • LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41)4

...its the LTE bit under cellular that makes me think I need the cellular version.

Wi-fi will be ok as no device will require a phone signal to work. They all connect either with Wi-fi or Bluetooth.
