  • SkyTrak seems to register shots but not sending it App

The unit seems to register shots just fine, but it just doesn't display shots to the app. When I hit a shot (start with all light on green), the top light then goes to red and the red laser doe goes off, and then the light goes back to green. I think that means the unit is able to read the shot, but the app doesn't show anything.

The unit is completely leveled. I've tried right and left handed; adjusting the height; direct and network mode; resetting the unit; reinstalling the app; with and without case. Nothing helps. No error message on the screen. The screen was just like there's no shot being hit.

It had been working fine in the past, but last week the issue started to come out. Last week, I tried reconnecting the unit to the app multiple times and switching between direct and network modes, and then it worked. However, since yesterday, no matter what I try, nothing helps.

I found this post (https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...031#post161031). It seems like the exact same issue. That guy had to send it in for replacing the Flash PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and that solved the problem. I'm not sure what the cost is, but I hope mine is not that bad given my unit is out of warranty a long time ago.

Anyone has any tips? Really appreciate it!

    That was me.
    You summed it up well.
I’d definitely contact Skygolf and get a return authorization. My repair was around $320, that includes a calibration fee and return shipping.

Oddly enough the unit has just failed a second time for the SAME issue and my understanding is that it a warranty repair this time around. Still waiting on unit from last week, Skygolf service has been great. Just bummed about multiple hardware failures and confidence level on fix being permanent just isn’t there at the moment.

Wow, so I have had my skytrak for two years with no issues and hit fairly regularly. I just updated to the latest software version and it also upgraded the firmware and now I can't get a shot to register! It connects to the app and when I take a swing the red light goes off and sometimes the top red light comes on indicating that it is sending data but nothing ever shows up. Other times all three green lights stay and and it just stays there until I reboot the unit. I'm thinking this has to be firmware related. Perhaps Skytrak can investigate this strange behavior?

I'm wondering if we can downgrade app version and/or the firmware and test to see if it works with older version/firmware.

Brnixon your issue does sound different albeit the result of non registered shots.

brnixon, you reminded me that I started having the issue after the new version was released (Sep 6th)

Hi All, I have the exact same issue. The problem started after I updated my iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) to iOS 12. Didn’t have the problem before the update. I’m pretty sure this is not a hardware issue as I’m still able to use SkyTrak to play WGT without any issue.

Seth, did you guys test the latest SkyTrak 3.3 software with iOS 12? I suspect that there’s probably a software bug here.

happybob, my iOS is still on version 11. So it may not be related to iOS 12. But I do think it is some sort of software issue.

FYI I reinstalled an old version 3.1? And it works again so definitely an issue with 3.3

Definitely new after update. Happened last night on more than 1/2 the shots.

Are you connecting in Network Mode? I have read some reports after an update that some users have needed to 'reprogram' their network credentials to the unit. That's worth a shot I suppose. Another option on PC is to delete the cache in C:\Users\[current user]\App Data\Local Low - delete the SkyTrak folder in there.

I am using direct mode wifi connect. Also, the newest update was SLOOOOOW! After switching back everything went back to normal. I may try and re-install 3.3 to see if it is still broken.

I tried both Netowrok Mode and Direct Mode, no difference. Tried a 2017 iPad Pro and a 2018 iPad, same problem. I had initially thought it might be the new iOS 12 update, but I'm guessing it's actually the SkyTrak 3.3 update. I also tried deleting and re-installing the SkyTrak app, no luck. Again, no problem at all with WGT, just the SkyTrak app.

How do you guys revert to the older app version of the SkyTrak iPad app?

I found a way to successfully downgrade the iOS app to 3.1, but still no luck with seeing shots on the SkyTrak app. I’ve call SkyTrak and sent them the pics of my setup. They believe it’s due to my setup. The tech support will call me on Friday and help me troubleshoot. I will see how it goes.

However, I am still doubt there’s a setup issue given I haven’t mess up with the setup and it worked well before.

One thing I can confirm after downgrading to 3.1 is that the older version does start up and connect to the device much faster than the last war version (3.3).
                          Working...
