Syncing shot history from Skytrak to SkyGolf 360

    Hi,

I almost exclusively use Direct Mode to connect my Skytrak and iPad because I could never get Network Mode to work well in my garage due to poor internet connectivity.

My question: is it not possible to have the shot data history from Skytrak sync to my SkyGolf 360 account if my actual Skytrak session is not through Network Mode? Currently all I see under Practice > Skytrak online in my Skygolf 360 account is the marketing graphic and video link.

I would have thought the shots would update to Skygolf 360 once my Skytrak session is done and I'm back connected to my regular wifi. Do I have to enter Network Mode (once I'm done with my session in Direct Mode) in order for the shot history to sync?

For now, I'm just using the export CSV functionality to send myself my shot data but I have to do this with each registered "session".

    Thanks,
    Lu

    Hey Lu,

Yes, when you are in direct mode, all of your shot data should store locally. It is flagged as 'unsynced' and then next time you open the app with a valid internet connection, then all your unsycned shot data should be synced to 360. The one caveat is that you must be logged in while performing those sessions in direct mode, otherwise we don't know where to sync them. Is that not happening? Are positive you are logging into the SkyTrak app with the same email/username that you use to log into SkyGolf 360? A lot of users have two SkyGolf 360 accounts and don't realize it.

Hey Seth - appreciate your quick response to my thread.

What's strange is that I've never seen the "unsynced" flag / label on my account page in the Skytrak app on my iPad. It has always read "Synced" or whatever the equivalent message is.

Yes, I am always logged in on the SkyTrak app on my iPad when I'm practicing in Direct Mode. Yes, I am using the same email address as the one I have online with SkyGolf 360.

I did call and talk to SkyTrak customer support and they told me I need to actually be in Network Mode in order for the shot data from Direct Mode to sync to SkyGolf 360? Is that not the case? I will try this later tonight.

Ah, you won't see any flags...that's all in the code. But you don't need to be in network mode to sync data, all you need is to open the app with an internet connection. If you are in network mode, the data syncs as you hit shots. If you are in direct mode, it all gets saved locally and then will sync the next time you open the app with an internet connection. That's where in your profile you'll see if change to "Sync in Progress"

Interesting. That's how I assumed / hoped it would work.

Yesterday, I brought my Skytrak and iPad up to my living room (where my internet connection is the strongest). I connected the two through Network Mode and saw a "Sync in Progress" message and the status bar turned yellow / orange which I'd never seen before. I left the Skytrak app open and the Skytrak on, hoping the status would eventually read "Synced" when it was finished, but it just stayed in that in-progress status for 10 minutes. I was eager to hit balls, so I eventually went back to the garage to hit 50-60 balls. After I was done, I had my iPad back upstairs to charge and connected to my wifi.

I still don't see anything in my Skygolf 360 account. I should note that I purchased this Skytrak from a previous / original owner who gave me his login info because he still had a few months left on his GI subscription before I eventually created my own account and renewed the GI package. I just logged into his SkyGolf account and I see shot history leading up to when his previous subscription ended (including the shots that I took using the Skytrak for the last month or so on that previous subscription).

That's interesting...so were you logged in as him while his GIP was still active? That would certainly explain why your shots went to his account. But once you created your own, assuming you starting logging into the app with your own account, it should have started going to your account. Is the unit now registered to you? If you want, you can PM me your serial number + email address/username and I will have the backend team check it out.

Hey Seth - sorry for the delay in responding as I've been traveling.

I tried to PM you but it says your inbox is full and you're unable to receive more messages. Let me know if there's another way to contact you with my Serial Number and SkyGolf account username / email.

                I'm still having this issue.

                Thanks,
                Lu

This is resolved. I spoke to ST customer service and had to be in Network mode. All the sessions since the last ST update (that are the only sessions on my iPad) are now visible in SkyGolf360.

Guess I either need to make my internet in the garage stronger and use Network mode from now on or just periodically switch back to Network mode after using the SkyTrak in Direct mode.

                  Thanks!
                  Lu

                    I found the same.

I interpreted Seth’s advice to be that if you connected to the internet whilst in the SkyTrak app, that the data would sync with SkyGolf360, but I can only get it to sync when connected in network mode.
