  • What Router/Access Point combo are you using?

I'm looking at replacing my current Router and Access Point some time in the near future. Before deciding on a replacement I wanted to see what other people are connecting their Skytrak unit to. I had a bunch of issues with my current setup getting my Skytrak unit connected originally so I'm a little hesitant to buy just anything.

When I first got my SkyTrak earlier this year I had some issues getting it connected to my WiFi network via the Access Point. After a lot of troubleshooting I found that the problem was that while it would connect to the main router it would never connect to the access point, which was hard wired to the main router. I even bought a new access point but it also didn't work. My work around was to buy a network extender that could piggy back off the main routers SSID. I opened a ticket with SkyTrak support but all I got back was a vague email saying that my router wasn't a recommended model.

Looking for recommendations on either a Router/Access point combo that has worked well with the SkyTrak unit or if anyone has tried some of the new Mesh wireless systems (Netger Orbi, Google Wifi, etc.).

    Thanks

I have an old house and had issues with a lower power mesh system so I bought 3 used Apple Airport Extremes and I've been super happy. I have no dead spots nor issues with my outdoor setup that's ~30' from the closest access point. I should note, we have tons of Apple devices if that makes a difference...

Have a main router and then ran a 100' ethernet cable to an old router that I set up as an access point much closer to my garage where I hit. Not that bad to do.. just watch some how to videos.
