  • WGT Problems with Accuracy

Has anyone else seen any big discrepancies in WGT distances? I've not had WGT fired up for 2 weeks or so until yesterday. I was noticing is my long irons 40-50 yards short and mid irons 40-50 yards long such as 125-130 5 iron shots and 180-190 yrd 7 irons. What was so disturbing was my 7 iron shots showing 180-190 were all registering 130 + mph ball speed and launch angles over 35 degrees. I cant remember the spin numbers. Up until this point I have been enjoying WGT other than tough courses with lack of adjustability. Considering going to TGC while its still on sale.
Just wanted to see if their is a fix for WGT I'm not aware of.

Does the problem also occur in Skytrak range? If I remember correctly, Skytrak pushes its raw data to WGT and WGT just uses that with its own flight algorithm along with any wind, and elevation and such in the game.

Aside from that, the 7 iron launch angle sounds very suspicious. 34 degrees is almost like you tee'd it up and hit up on it. In which case you would also likely get lower spin. The lower spin and high launch can make it go much further than typical. 130 mph ball speed with a 7 iron though is quite a bit and could make it go quite a ways on its own.

As far as long irons are concerned, my guess would be indoor swing. As I said before, try Skytrak range app and see if you still see the same issues. If you do, screen shot the data from the Skytrak range and post it here. I would be willing to bet all is well with both the ST and WGT but that your swing or contact is the issue. Not what most people want to hear but as I have said many times in these forums, 9 times out of 10, indoor swing or the golfer in general is the issue, not the hardware or software.

I don't (or rarely) have any issues on the skytrak range.

Reading my original post I don't see anything about a ball being tee'd up. My IRL 7 iron is around 140-145 yrds on a normal day as well as on the ST range. I'm well aware of launch and spin and the correlation between the two. I have never hit a 7 180 yrds Ever.

"As far as long irons are concerned, my guess would be indoor swing". Good guess, however, all my irons are the same length and I have no trouble hitting my normal distance 4 hybrid to SW on the ST range. In fact I have refrained from pulling any clubs longer than a 4 hybrid due to my observations of the effects of indoor swing with longer clubs.

Clevited thanks for trying to help but I'm asking if anyone is having a similar issue at the moment. You sir, obviously are not. I've read plenty of your post and am a firm believer that post count has no bearing on ability or experience. In fact its normally quite the opposite.

Once again if anyone else is having this problem fel free to chime in. If not it looks like I'm giving up and headed to TGC.

I am not sure what assumptions you have about me, but I was trying to help you out best I could. You then decided to give attitude back to me. What is the thinking there? That kind of post won't get you help on here in the future from me or from others. I gave you my best advice based on the limited detail you provided. I am sorry I responded to your post that basically nobody else was responding to. Maybe I should not try to help people asking for it? Anyways, good luck.

Indoor swing most likely. Bob Chung is also right.
