I am working on aligning my skytrak which is inside of one of their protective cases. Are the alignment dots suppose to be square with the unit? If I put it on a flat level surface and put a straight edge so the dots are perfect with the straight edge then measure from the base of the unit it is 3/4" off that's on 12". If I set the ST up against a 10' mat to get the alignment even with the mat I would have to have the ST turned quite from square with the mat. Or do I just go off the dots period and set everything up off those?

Don't go off the dots. Start with the face of the unit being parallel to your line. Then hit some chips and pay attention to where they contact the screen to determine if the unit is ready correctly.

The way I had it set up was everything off my exterior foundation wall from the far end of the mat farthest from the screen to putting a mark on the screen at the same exact distance. Then putting the ST up to the mat (in it's housing it is the perfect height. I have been pushing everything left. I literally have to try to hit a slice to get anything straight down the fairway. So I put the alignment dots on and see it is way off. When they say use alignment sticks if the dots are off what is the reason for the sticks if the dots are not correct? ST has stated that those dots can be off internally to the machine. At one point they removed them and folks got upset so they added the option back in to turn them on if someone wanted to. If you are hitting dead straight into your screen and the ball is starting off left then angle the front of the unit to the right until shots that hit the center of the screen start off down the middle in the software. Usually you can do this once and then put marks down on the ground for positioning the unit going forward.Comment

Sounds good. Thank you Update I just tried this it seems to be much better with just a few shots. One other question. I have a mat that I am cutting in FB 1'x1' pads into. One if a reg fairway which is the same height as the my mat. But I also bought the rough grass insert which is about an 1 1/4" higher to hit when I am in the rough. As I hit it more I will adjust as needed but with the shots I just did I have been back and fourth on the center. I have not seen that to date. They were 90% left with the odd heavy push or slice rightOriginally posted by wbond View Post
