  • Creative Golf 3D vs. Fitness Golf

Which one do you consider better? Looking for a budget software, and was wondering what the pros and cons of each were. Thanks!

I have Creative and like it very much, good graphics and short game patch... it only has 9 tracks to play 18 holes on (more can be purchased) and they are all European. It also has target golf, demolition golf and pitch and putt courses that are fun as hell to play. My buddy has Fitness and we play it a lot and it is pretty solid, graphics are so so but it comes with a ton of courses that are real and fictional... for $299 it would be tough to beat. I'm thinking about buying it as well because you own it forever and it also has some fun user creative courses and a huge variety of tracks to choose from.

      HI

I have both, they are both good.

I bought creative for the Irish courses, but course wise Fitness is better, its basically all the FR1 courses.

I wouldn't buy creative for the mini golf as everyone knows most sims have to be set to 5 or 6 foot gimmes regarding putting, so mini golf in creative is just about putting it to within 5 or 6 feet of the hole. This becomes boring very quickly.

Creative not demanding on computer graphics, nor is Fitness, but creative less demanding than fitness on pc.

That's it, like both, but fitness at $299 is real good value if your system can run it.

      regards
      HappyG

I've just been trying the Fitness Golf demo over Xmas and here are my reflections (if I have any of this wrong then please tell me!). In general I like it and I'm going to buy it.

        PROS
        Cheap - one-off price - no hassle
Easy to set up and run - easy connection with SkyTrak
Good selection of courses and the ones that I have played are interesting
Good ball physics - matches with how I know I normally hit
Runs fine on a modest PC (just don't turn it up to max)
Graphics are fine - not top end but perfectly good
Good range of games (stroke play, Stableford etc.)

        CONS
No tournaments, no silly games (like demolition golf which CG3D has - not an issue for me though)
Can't seem to get full details of last shot I played (spin, launch etc. - does anybody know how to do this?)
Sometimes I get multiple consecutive no-reads. Very frustrating (does this happen to others too? ST on its own rarely no-reads and definitely not 4-5 in a row)
Putting is very hard (I don't do it - I just auto putt. But I'm not going to my golf cave to putt anyway)

Hope this helps - eager to hear any other reflections from you folks out there

          Couldn't agree more.

All sim putting is a bit of a joke at this point in time.

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying Fitness Golf. To respond to some of your comments/questions:

          1. The Fitness Golf software does not presently offer data analysis after each shot but we may add this in the future if there is enough of a demand for this. We have already added some new features based upon user requests. I guess we feel that no data analysis during a round is more like real life- You hit the range before you play to work out the kinks, and can use the SkyTrak App range to do the same before a simulated round of golf.

          2. No-reads have nothing to do with the Fitness Golf software and everything to do with your SkyTrak unit. Fitness Golf takes the data sent from your SkyTrak to generate the ball flight. If there is no data sent then there will be no ball flight. You need to make sure the bottom of your SkyTrak unit is level with the top of your hitting surface. Once you have this dialed in you should essentially have zero no-reads.

          3. Yes, putting is difficult with all of the simulator softwares but once you become familiar with the Fitness Golf grid I believe it to be the closest to real life putting. Most people have more problem with distance control than aim when putting. If you change the green speeds within the Fitness Golf settings to close to what you are accustomed to, and follow our user manual instructions for adding or subtracting 1 foot of putting distance for each 1 inch of elevation change, you should get your distance control down very quickly. As far as aim goes, there is a learning curve to reading the break using the Fitness Golf putting grid. But, with a little practice, you will be surprised how often you have correctly read the break.

          Hope this helps,
          Greg

Just downloaded the Creative golf demo. Is it really only one hole? Am I missing something. How do you tell if you like it trying just one hole. How is the fitness golf demo.

I would also suggest downloading the Fitness Golf demo and giving it a try. It is a full-featured demo and allows play on three 18 hole courses.

Also, in Fitness Golf, can you practice on the courses? Like can I pick a spot on the course and just hit balls from there?

Yes. As long as you enable mulligans before you start a round, you can pick any hole on any course to play, and simply hit to the area on the hole you want to practice from and then click "mulligan" after each shot to keep practicing the shot.

I know Fitness Gold allows you to "chase" your shot by bike or by running on a treadmill after you hit. But does anyone know where these are sold? Having trouble finding them.

Does anyone know if spin decay is taken into account in CG3D?
