  • High Ball Speed Test Results

I remember Seth saying they were going to carry out high ball speed testing at the end of September. I can’t find the results anywhere, were they ever published?

Seth indicated he’d be sharing the results soon. He posted that in a different thread, maybe the Skytrak updates or something.

      Thanks Alphaseekr,

Think I saw that but expected they’d be out and on a new thread by now. It worries me slightly if they’ve not shared them yet.

I am eagerly awaiting as well as my swing speed falls in the range of interest.

They identified an issue and a fix is coming out in q1.

I wish SkyTrak_Seth would give us a little update. :-)

We have the fix in place with a very select number of beta testers. Once it passes that round, I'll open up the beta to a larger community (possibly just post a link on the forum). Still need a few more weeks for testing before I do that though as it involves a firmware update to the unit.

I'm recently new to ST but had used Optishot2 for about 3 years and even that $300 sim was more accurate with swing speed and distance!

Well... considering swing speed is the only thing calculated on optishot i hope so haha. Swing speed is estimated on skytrak. And i think distance you are getting from optishot is generous. They assume you strike center every single time so i would say fun. Not accurate

Yeah the Optishot is incredibly generous with its distances however it's nowhere near as accurate as a SkyTrak.

I’m new to Skytrak, what is the high ball speed issue that is being discussed. The fastest speed I’ve hit a ball is 135 mph, does this issue affect higher ball speeds? FWIW, I’m super impressed with the launch monitor, I can’t believe it works so well.

Skytrack starts reading ballspeed low the higher your ballspeed goes. It starts being fairly significant when you get above 150 ballspeed. I don’t remember exactly but I think it was like 3 mph around there. Once you get to 180mph it’s like 5-7mph. Which is quite a few yards short.

Yes i agree ST is more accurate on the ball data, but on swing data especially how they see the club orintation to where the ball is placed as it passes through the monitoring zone optishot wins. .Also i know ball speed is important to figure distance snd club head speed however my distances on optishot on average are a closer representation to my real life results. Ball flight and miss hits are way more accurate on ST. It pretty good when you can feel a shot when you hot it and verbally say crap shank or worm burner and thats what shows up on ST. I am enjoying it I just wish was more reliable on distance off the tee.
