  • Best ball to use on ST range?

Hi All, what ball flys the best on the ST driving range? What ball will give the most distance?

  • #2
I use the ball that I use on the course so I know what distances I hit with it.

They all fly pretty similar in my opinion. I use to get a few extra yards with the chrome soft on mid irons because the spin was less. I also get a few more with the Snell Black mid irons. Wedges seem the same and driver you might find a ball that gives you a couple yards.

Do you have a ST? Under you name it shows you have R-motion. If you have a ST, then you have the tool required to tell you what works best for you and your swing and gives you the best combination of LA and spin. Also, if you get your averages for ball speed, spin and LA you can use flightscope trajectory optimizer and play with the settings to see what you could optimize to max out your drives.

I found the chrome soft soccer ball pattern give the best backspin #'s. Just dont get the yellow and black ones, Skytrak doesnt read those.

More realistic. Balls stick and roll back. Solid white balls have about 1000 less rpms for me. I use the White and red.

I think you mean the RED and WHITE ball. I think I read somewhere on here the Yellow and Black ball did not work well.

When I had Skytrak, i had the best results with the red and white soccer ball. Very few miss/no reads.

I really don't think it has anything to do with the pattern on the ball as much as that ball just works well. Seth sent me a photo of what the unit sees with that ball and the infa red cameras really don't even see the red on the ball.

But for me, they always worked best !!

Feel is also an important part for me. My sim in in a mostly unheated garage so I tend to prefer softer balls (lower compression) that don't feel like rocks in the winter. The only down side with balls like Wilson Duo or Callaway Supersoft is that they tend to crack faster than other golf balls. I use Costco's Kirkland golf balls in my sim. They are soft feel like Chrome Softs but are very durable and very cheap $23 for 2 dozen. Good luck!
