  • Tomahawk Tee position with driver

I've got my fancy new Tomakawk tee...tried it out and I was struggling to break 200 yards outside! I probably was not hitting it as well as I would normally but the distance was still way down on what I expect when I measure on the course (~250 yards). All other clubs go the expected distance including irons, wedges and 3 wood. So I suspect its my SkyTrak / Tee setup.

Should I have the red dot at the base of the Tomahawk tee?

I put the red dot inside the center of the base and am real careful to make sure the word logo on my golf ball is facing the SkyTrak red light sensor. Since I use a Fiberbuilt hitting strip I stack 3 of the Tomahawk tees together. That seems to work very well for me.

Birtees work on fiberbuilt. They dont sink down on fiberbuilt like tomahawk tees do.

When using this outside is the sun out?

Yes outside and yes in the sun at times...as I've said all other clubs seem spot on inc 3 wood....apart from driver! I position the tee right on top of the dot...and I'm not a fast/big hitter...I'd say 250 total distance or there abouts.

The sun will cause ball speed issues and give you inconsistent (and frustrating!) results.

I pot the tee 2inches behind my red dot. Make sure the skytrak is on the same level as the mat and not sitting on the ground next to the mat. I get maybe a misread out of 25 swings with that setup. My club head speed is 107 on the high side 103-105 average for what it’s worth.
