  • SkyTrak disconnecting

    Hi,

Every so often (especially playing WGT) my Skytrak will display red / yellow / green lights. What is the reason for this?

I did wonder if it was losing a wifi connection but I moved my router to be about 20 foot away, albeit it was in the garden.

    Any thoughts please? !

Someone posted what the various light combinations mean in a similar post to this a week or so ago..sorry I'm lazy to go find it. You can look it up in the SkyTrak user manual.

I dealt with similar issues when I ran my SkyTrak via WIFI which is why I switched to USB mode (which had a hole bunch of different issues!). You need to have a strong wifi signal for it to work optimally with no hiccups. I actually ended up buying a mesh network to try to address. It still didn't work to my satisfaction therefore my switch to USB.

What were some of your issues with USB? I'm currently having some of the wifi issues and contemplating doing direct USB since I keep getting disconnected while playing TGC.

USB may not help getting disconnected from TGC, as it might be your PC falling off network not the skytrak...

Change your wifi channel to "manual" on the 2.4ghz and choose something other than 1, 6 or 11. This often helps. Other wireless often runs over this same range, so be aware of conflicts with things like wireless house phone, doorbells, etc.

WiFi analyzer on Android, or netstumbler on PC can help diagnose wifi issues. No equiv on iphone/iPad sorry.

The biggest issue reported with USB is that noise on the line causes your skytrak to go in and out (the red light) and won't register shots consistently. I ended up buying a decent power strip that reduces emi noise and it solved the problem for me.
    Working...
