  • ST registers inconsistent side launch angle.

Hi everyone - brand new ST (3 weeks old).

I’ve checked alignment dozens of times. Blatenly hit the right side of the screen.

Nearly every shot I hit registers as a pull or just simply inconsistent.

The one time I hit as far right into the screen I can, it registered a very small push in relation to very large pulls when hitting, what I think, is dead straight.

Maybe i simply can’t figure out how to align this thing properly?

I use the alignment mode and a laser level, the rod with FMJ. I can’t seem to find a sweet spot.

Wall color behind hind me is a light grey. Could that be my issue?

see link attached. The spot where the ball hit the screen and the subsequent registered side launch angle image follows each shot. Additional image to show where ball is placed on ground for relativity to the screen impact.

Please let me know your thoughts on this!

Yes, the wall could be an issue. First, take the skytrak out of the case, align the front of the ST unit parallel to your hitting line and see what you get. If that doesn't work, then hang something dark behind you to eliminate wall color. If that works, now put the skytrak back in the case and test again.

Will try this and report back! Thank you

That fixed it. Black material behind where I’m standing worked. Thank you

What was behind you? A cement wall?

this will be down to the way the skytrak determines horizontal launch angle, from what i have seen it tries to measure the size of the ball, and if it is bigger or smaller than the starting image, it then calculates the size difference and then the horizontal angle,

If it is unable to accurately determine the size of the ball in a black and white photo, then it will be hard for it to calculate this, the more contrast of black and white you can get in the environment, the more accurate the calculations will be.
