SkyTrak not providing correct ball flight shape/direction

My SkyTrak is struggling to provide readings similar to the actual ball flight at the range. Its done this on the past 2 visits.

I aligned parallel and as accurately as possible, certainly within a few degrees of parallel. I hit 7 irons to ~155 yards. Distance was good.

However the ST reading was ~20 to 30 yards to RIGHT of where the ball actually landed – the ball flight simply did not match the actual ball flight.

It was a sunny day, with the sun behind the unit so if you were taking a photograph it would be from the optimum location to get a clear picture.

I used range balls, a number were beaten up but all had logos…and even the new range balls made no difference in terms of results…I also hit a proper Srixon ball but again the shape/direction were wrong.

I tried moving the ST a few degrees left or right (not sure which is the correct way to go to fix a RIGHT biased?) but could not get it to a satisfactory reading to show the correct ball shape. I didn’t want to move this to ~10+ degrees as I should not need to do this for such a finetuned device?

I tried a few chips to 50 yards and again the direction/shot shape was wrong.

My SkyTrak is in the official ST metal case.

Could I have a technical issue with the device?

The frustrating this is about 3 weeks ago at the same range I was seeing results that surpassed my expectations.

…I don wonder how many of you play in doors and have similar issues but just don’t know as you never see where the ball actually lands!?

My unit is also right bias to correct this I simply open the machine three or four degrees which will put your target line more center-based... there's a chance your unit could be out of alignment and may have to go back to be recalibrated I believe mine is as well but I just can't stomach losing it for a few weeks LOL hope this helps.

Make sure the device is centered on the protective case cut-outs and that your device's window is clean.

Yes its 100% centred...I noticed last time I put it in that it can be a degree or two out. I've also recently cleaned it...its around the time that I took it out of the case and cleaned it that I've noticed the issues.

What do people use to clean skytrak? Windolene or just water...or?
Do the laser bits need cleaned or do they not impact performance?

I'd use water and a very soft cloth. When I first got my skytrak in 2016, took it to the range, saw it was getting covered in dust and grass, and wiped with my shirt tail....instant scratching. That alone seems to have no effect. I do wish I had some kind of spray polish, recommended, to make the plastic window look clean with no scratching.

                Clockwise I do believe.

Firstly can you confirm if the issue is with shot shape (draw/fade) or just starting direction, if it is just starting direction, then the angle required to be 30yds off line on a 155yd shot is not very much, and when Brought back to the SkyTrak angle maybe only be less than half inch

I cleaned the ST last night and there was a finger print on the front but its not made any difference. I hit a bunch of short chips...15 to 20 yards...in real life my chips either go left or straight...not right...but the shots were still right on...ST reported the shots going 3 or 4 yards right but I expected them to be 1 to 2 yards left.

I tried to turn the ST clockwise to compensate but could not find anything that was consistently giving the results I was expecting...plus distance seemed to drop the more I turned it? I've attached a photo of what appeared to result in straightish shots.

So the issue is probably more to do with direction than shape...v frustrating.

Is it always sitting on that white block? white/light colors can interfere with it reading the ball

                Spoke to ST support.
                1. Toggled leg n right mode for few mins
                2. went into alignment mode n switched on both lasers.
                3. Used pin to hard reset.

And much to my surprise its back to how it should be...

Only other factor would be sun is behind the house...will retry with sun out tomoz but full expect it to work...

So a reboot n toggling left/right has worked and.it apppears bang on for 20 yard chips.

Looking fwdto the taking my ST to the range when i pick up my new I500s next week!!!!!!

Did you click your ruby slippers together also? LOL. I can't see how any of those steps would affect how the unit reads...but if it's back to working, we'll leave well enough alone.
