  • First few days with my SkyTrak!

    Hi all,

New to the forum and new to golf simulators.

I’ve bought and set up a SkyTrak with a Net Return and purchased The Golf Club game. I’m absolutely loving it all right now and wish I made this choice earlier. So far:

    - Struggled with alignment as I’m hitting into a net but after a bit of testing it was all sorted

    - Couldn’t get TGC to work at all with my SkyTrak but the Pro Tee Guys were amazing with their quick responses and fixed it for me

I’m struggling with two things right now:

    1) Putting on TGC. I seem to get it to work 1 shot out of 10? Is there something you guys are doing different to register a shot? I’m just putting the ball on the red dot but it doesn’t pick it up.

    2) hitting a 3 wood off the deck or hybrid. It doesn’t seem to pick that up too? Where do you position the ball?

lastly is there a way to change the tee position from the hardest difficulty to a yellow tee? Can you just play specific holes on courses too?

    Thank you

Putting tip that may help you is if you take the logo of the golf ball and face it at the camera in the skytrak. This actually helps with all shots.

As for hitting off deck with woods and hybrids what color is your club head I have heard if it is white it could cause an issue. Although I have a R15 white headed 5 wood and never experienced this issue. I do how ever place the ball about 1 to 2 inches behind laser and almost never have missed or misread shots

As for tee position in TGC one tee box only so no you can't use a different tee box but good news is when TGC2019 comes out all courses have multiple tee boxes.

As for just playing specific holes on a course the only way I know how you could would be to load up the course and on the tee box just go into settings and concede holes until you get to the hole you want to play. Or there are some designers who do design specific holes of courses and publish them for example you can find the back nine only at Sawgrass.

I hope you find some of these tips useful and congratulations on your skytrak and TGC purchase.

Wow thank you for the quick reply! I will try this later. Thank you again

I agree. I put my driver tee about 2 inches to the right of the laser dot also 3wood off the deck about 1 inch right of the dot. If im hitting a flop shot the ball is around 1 inch left of the dot. When im putting I place the ball around 8 inches to the right of the dot and use the dot for spot putting. I roll the putt right over the spot and haven't had a non read in putting.

One thing that helped me tremendously with both picking up putts and picking up low launch angle shots off low irons and woods was taking the feet off of the skytrak protective case. With the feet on, I was getting maybe 50% pickup on those shots and had to place the ball two inches behind the dot. With the feet off, I rarely get a no-read on a non-putt and maybe only get a no-read on a putt 1 out of 10 times. Also with the feet off, can put most clubs on the dot and everything else within an inch of the dot.

Yeah the pads on the feet are pretty thick, I turned mine upside down that way I can still level it up, works great.

I place the ball about exactly where you do except when putting. I am surprised the ST FOV is large enough to pick up the putts from 8 inches. I will need to try that tonight, thanks!

I think it just picks the putt up as it passes by and it doesn't see the putter head this way. ??? Not sure but it works great for me.

Something I think SkyTrak_Seth mentioned was removing the protective film from the ST. The film has a label advising not to remove, but Seth wrote that we can remove it. I think this has helped some with eliminating no-reads.

As far as playing only certain holes in TGC. I posted about wanting to play Amen Corner and needing to concede holes to get there and one of our members posted that you can search Amen Corner and just play those three holes. Hopefully you can find what hole you want through the search option?

I was also confused by the note to not remove... however, if you re-read that, it was just worded funny. It doesn't want you to remove the black window/lens that covers all the cameras and lasers etc. Removing the film is fine.

Make sure the base of your ST is level with your mat. Not the base of the case, or the feet - the base of the unit itself. Most have it on a separate platform next to the mat, I think...
