I am assuming you want to load TGC or another sim software? Because if you are just loading the skytrak app it is not demanding at all and you can run it off most mediocre computers.Originally posted by Dan King View PostHey folks, anyone have some advice on a fast gaming laptop to load SkyTrak that's under $1K?

Good luck. I found no such thing... I know there are some out there, but if I was going to drop a G on a gaming computer, I was going to spend another $400 to get one that is actually good. New laptops at that price for this need are very rare and will most likely be bottom tier. Laptop Gaming PCs are much more expensive than Gaming Desktops.
I ended up scouring the web - Ebay, Craigslist, LetGo!. I found a desktop on LetGo! that was built for gaming and had all the specs needed for $400. Since it's dedicated to just my sim, it was the perfect scenario.-KillaCale8

I've done some initial research and I found some highly rated gaming laptops for under $1K. I'm not looking for fabulous, only something that will keep up with ever-increasing graphics and speed requirements for the near future anyway. Thx for your input.Originally posted by calebm1001 View PostGood luck. I found no such thing... Costco has a sale on this MSI gaming laptop: https://www.costco.com/.product.1004...19_0327_TooBig
The specs should be sufficient, although I'm not sure about the GTX 1050 Ti. Probably depends on the resolution and detail you're running.

Unless you "need" a laptop your wasting money. Desktops, even small form factor ones are waaaaaaaay more bang for buck and upgradeable for years if you select parts well. Priorities are GPU and CPU in that order, buy the best you can there and fit the rest of the system around them .

Any suggestions on make and models? Space is a bit tight, that's why I was thinking laptop.Originally posted by dg_1983 View PostUnless you "need" a laptop your wasting money. HP makes an Omen that is less than $1K. Also I would try to get something that has a 1060 with 6gb or greater to future proof yourself. The processor does not need to be an i7. i5 or a ripping i3 will do the trick. really it comes down to the graphics card. Check eBay. there could be some good deals there. Or even CL. If you are trying to do it on a budget, and space requirements are a must, the foot print of a laptop vs a desktop is about the same. I have a micro-atx style case and its right up against my wall next to the TV.
btw it wasnt asked, but are you going to be running sim software like TGC or E6? if not, you really don't need a fast computer at all. Mine is an absolute POS, and it runs Skytrak just fine.
intel 2260 with onboard graphics card. I mean. this thing is bare-bones, and it runs the Skytrak program without an issue. The only good thing in it is that it has SSD for the HDD's.Last edited by SkeetShooter; 03-28-2019, 02:49 PM.
