  • How accurate is the swing speed?

curious as I think mine may be a bit off.

I generally carry the ball about 170-175 with my 7i.

But it shows my swing speed at around mid, sometimes upper 80s. I have been other places with GC2/GCquads and those show me more around low-mid 90's.

    Thoughts?

It’s calculated so it’s only as accurate as your quality of strike. The better you are at hitting the center of the face every time the more accurate it will be but even then it varies 5mph. For an average striking 15 handicap I’d say it’s closer to 7-8 mph variance and for poor ball strikers closer to 10-15

Ball speed is what you need to look at, it’s within a few miles an hour of ball speed accuracy

Like he said. I really only pay attention to ball speed not swing speed.

It’s funny because I had a guy over hitting on my skytrak the other day. I’m a lefty and right handlers rarely use it. He was getting 95-102 mph club speed with his driver and the ball was going 150-180 with what I would consider a slice but fairly mild I mean like 30 yards. I thought well maybe it’s reading wrong. A couple of days later I play with him and that’s exactly what he was getting on the course. His best drive was about 185. Poor guy has like 6k backspin with a driver he is so steep.

It's amazing how much you can learn after using the SkyTrak. I had never really used a launch monitor and the example above about the 6,000 rpm backspin is a perfect example.

I've used other swing speed devices at the same time as my SkyTrak and on a solid strike they are really close. I've found ball speed can very by a few mph based on different balls too and have seen HUGE differences in spin rates. All of these factors can effect the calculated swing speed.
