  • Skytrak “freezing”?

    Was out in the garage hitting this afternoon with my skytrak connect in Direct Mode. In the middle of my session, I hit a 7i and the laser went off and top light turned red, and....that’s it. It froze like this and never produced the shot onto my ipad. I exited that session, started a new one, and second strike it froze again. I repeated this about 3-4 more times before frustratingly quitting for the day. Has anyone else experienced this, or have a troubleshooting procedure for this?

    I’ve had this happen before, and I ended up switching to a USB direct connection. I could not get past one or two shots via Wifi and was assuming that my unit needs to be sent in to have it’s wireless adapter replaced.

      That is certainly disappointing to hear. I use my ipad pro rather than a computer to connect. I guess i will have to contact them unless someone else has something different to report. Would be interested to find out why that would happen given that it has been stationary in my garage for the past couple years.

      Have you talked to Tech support? They are pretty good. They can do a remote session and get right into your computer to either fix or give you some options.

    I was trying to compare balls and would hit 4 or 5 shots then try to change the club to a second 7 iron so I could keep the stats separate to compare, soon as I added a new club I would hit the first shot, laser would go out top green light goes red like normal when you hit a shot but it would never show the shot. Also I had tracers for last 5 shots turned on, when this happens 4 of the tracers just vanish and it only shows one. I tried repowerimg the skytrak and no luck, closing the software and powering down the skytrak was the only fix.
    This entire scenario happened exactly the same 3 times in a row before I just gave up.

    The night before when the login troubles were occurring it was acting the same so it’s possible it’s just a server issue I am hoping.

          The different balls if all white and all in good shape should not cause what you are saying. I use a tray full of all different balls. I have 50+ balls of 7 different brands and never had an issue going from one brand to another. Actually a lot of times I tee off with something like a Snell "Get Some" or a ProV1 then switch to a Callaway Diablo for approach shots and will tend to gravitate to Bridgestone E6 for wedge shots. No reason for this it's just habit. I probably had a good hole once with this combo, who knows I'm nutty that way.

            I had a very similar experience in the beginning. I called support and realized my red laser dot was about 13 inches from the SkyTrak box. It really needs to be like 11 to 12 inches. Take a piece of printer paper and lay it down from the SkyTrak onto your hitting mat. Your red dot should be on the corner of the piece of paper. I couldn’t believe what a difference this has made. I also have increased my WiFi connection and this has helped a bit when logging into SkyTrak app. I am in usb mode and now have had a lot of success. I also make sure the logo of the ball is facing the SkyTrak. This has also made a difference.

              Thanks for the info. I will verify the distance to be appropriate. I have had my ST for 3-4 years now and this is something new. As for wifi, I recently upgraded my home system to more of a commercial type system. I’m more limited by my ipad pro and iphone’s than the actual modem and router setup.

              Is there a way that I’m not familiar with to connect my ipad pro by usb? If so, let me know.

            Update: Called the system support and they asked me to simply delete the app, reinstall, and test again. I’ve never been a big subscriber of deleting and reinstalling apps, but I hope to give it a go later today or tomorrow. I have had a busy few days of work and routinely work from well before to well after the time they have phone support available.

              Update: deleted and reinstalled the app yesterday before the derby. A buddy and myself hit a couple dozen shots before the horses ran without any problem whatsoever. I am hoping to do a few sessions in this upcoming week so we will see if it stays good to go.
