  • Almost golf balls VS. Real

So I've exclusively been hitting almost golf balls in my sim setup. Tonight for the hell of it I hit some real ones. I was hitting my 6i carry about 160 with the almost and about 180 with real ones.

I didn't have much time to test this out, but my 6i and 4h were going 20 to 30 yds farther with real balls. Does anyone else have similar results?

Yeah, in the past I have said:
    5% loss with wedges
    ~10% loss with irons
    20% loss with woods
and maybe 30% loss with driver

I temporarily have a GC2 and HMT so I've been doing some studying and I think the actual different is the "efficiency" of the strike or the "smash factor". Almost golf balls seem to peak out around 1.2 smash factor whereas a real golf ball will hit 1.45. I think that pretty much fits with my previous understanding.

I also noticed significantly higher ball flight with real balls, but the general shot shapes were similar.
