  • Faulty Skytrak all of a sudden

Have been using the skytrak for the past few evenings fine until tonight. Mid session, my distances have just died. My 7 iron (145 club) now travels 100 when hit flush and my 3 hybrid (190 carry) is struggling into the 120s.

Any idea? My skytrak is in the shank tank but have tried to make it level with my mat as much as possible. Like I say, literally came from no where

Couple things that have gotten me in the past, and they sound kinda stupid so sorry if youve already checked:

    1. Is your ball cracked or damaged? This drops distance down dramatically. Take a brand new ball and try again. They get cracks much easier in the colder weather too.
    2. Is there dust/dirt/debris from the mat on the skytrak and blocking the sensor?
    3. has your background (wall or area behind you as you swing) changed recently? Try to have something other than pure white behind the ball so the skytrak can properly distinguish the ball on camera.

My bet is that if you keep using that ball it'll break in two. Sudden descreases in distance for me are always caused by a cracking ball. Yesterday a Chromesoft cracked on me after less than 100 hits. And nasty sharp ball fragments hitting the screen are bad karma

Did you figure this out? This is one of the mysteries that has driven me crazy over the years....
It's a fact that sometimes some ST units (not all of them) will become "juiced" where every shot or two will go 20-30 yards longer than it should have (even with pitching). I have a theory that this glitch sometimes occurs, but has the opposite effect of making shots seem sluggish. I suspect we haven't discussed this because every time someone starts a new thread about ST distances being short we all roll our eyes.... This 'negative juicing' happened to me just last week.

I think the ball issue was correct. I stopped using for a few days then started with a brand new ball - everything back to normal!
