  • Skytrak stuck with middle light flashing red

I have been a Skytrak user for 3+ years now. Box has worked fine with a few network related issues here and there, but I have always been able to figure out the issues and get it working. I have now run into something I cannot seem to fix. The unit is stuck with middle light (wifi) flashing red. Cannot connect, and cannot reset the unit to direct mode with paperclip.

FYI, I have experienced a similar situation in the past, except then the middle light was flashing yellow. I couldn't get the paperclip reset to work then either until I went out of range of my home wifi network. When I took it down the street and out of my wifi range, then the reset button worked as it was supposed to. So I was then able to connect with Skytrak app on my PC and all was fine.

Back to my current issue... This time, with the red flashing light, going down the street doesn't help. Any ideas? Please help..

I just got mine. Worked great the first use...now I'm stuck with the middle light being yellow. Where is the hole to insert the paperclip to reset? Is it behind the small screw on the bottom of the unit?

You shouldn't have to remove any screws. I think there is a rubber plug over the hole. Its in the middle left of the yellow sticker. Its the larger of the 2 holes there.

Just a follow up. I got it working (middle light was stuck flashing red). The key was to get it back into direct mode so that it broadcasts the SKYTRAK wi-fi network. Was only able to do this by disconnecting the battery. To do this without taking the box apart you can just let the power drain completely out of the box. Then turn it back on and repeat draining until all the lights turn red, then it will be broadcasting WIFI again and you will be able to connect and configure with the Skytrak app again.

I'm having the same issue - middle light flashing red (although it came as a result of a bad shot hitting the unit in the protective metal case). No result in trying the reset button. Can't see Skytrak within accessible networks.

I'll try your method. How long did it take to drain the battery?

Thanks for posting, I'd really love to avoid the delay in sending it back for repairs...
