So yesterday was the day that perfect golf ended for us. What are people thinking of switching too? I am swaying towards the golf club first version just because it is a decent price to buy outright.

Throwing in my vote for TGC2019. Although a little more expensive than the original, it's worth it. The online tournament scene is big (and from my understanding is pretty much dead on the original TGC).

how would you compare gameplay between the 2 if online is not part of the discussion

I've never played the original, so can't tell you much. I understand that on the original the ball stopped very quickly on the greens whereas in 2019 it rolls out more realistically. Someone who has experience with both will be able to tell you a lot more.

Also, I don't believe the original is really getting many new courses added to it as most of the designers have transitioned over to 2019.

TGC19 by far. Wouldn’t bother with original. 19 gives u multiple tee boxes, ability to play front r back nine, but most important for me, u get to create n play LIDAR Courses. Creating fairly accurate local courses without spending 200 hours doing so is a complete game changer IMO.

When I got TGC2019, I didn't think I would bother much with the tournaments. So it wasn't really a selling point for me. But once I started to dabble in them a little I never went back. Tournament rounds are now all that I play. I can't even tell you the last time I played just a casual round.

Society tournament play is really enjoyable. I like having someone else choose the course and play along with the PGA. Or, some hosts know much more about the vast number of good courses, and it's just nice to let them pick and join in. I don't really use the ghosts, but watching the leaderboard between holes is now quite part of playing online.
