    Need some skytrak help

Hi everyone and Happy Holidays! I recently set up my skytrak. I’m almost finished with my sim room just waiting for my screen and enclosure. In the meantime I hung my projector and been using the skytrak driving range which I purchased with the game improvement plan. Today I’m installing TGC 2019. The other day I had to reach out to skytrak because it would not connect me. It turns out that I was using it in WiFi mode through my internet and they had to set it to direct mode so I have to turn my WiFi off and the skytrak uses its own WiFi. Now that I’m installing TGC 2019 on my hard drive will I still be able to launch the software when my skytrak is in direct mode. I’m thinking yes but was wondering if anyone else does this. Also, when I planned out my room I ran several hdmi’s to where the gaming computer was going to be set up. There are 2 in the ceiling ( one for short throw and one for long throw). As well as one for a floor mount which is close to where the skytrak sits. I know they sell an active hdmi to usb connector and was thinking that maybe I should put this usb to HDMI couple at both ends and plug the skytrak into the USB port on my gaming computer. I have read through the forum that a hard wire connection is the best as long as you have right hand golfers. I do have one friend who is lefty so I’m not sure how I will handle this if and when he comes over. I guess I could switch back to direct mode? Anyhow, if anyone could shed some light on these two questions I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Did you get things figured out?

As you mentioned, USB mode is the most reliable way of using Skytrak and TGC.

As for the lefty ..... just use network mode or direct mode when he comes over so that you can use the Skytrak wirelessly. You can play TGC in any mode.

Thanks...not really. I downloaded TGC 2019 and followed all the directions. I put in my license number and hooked the skytrak to the USB port on the back of my gaming computer and got it to sync. If I run in direct mode I have to disconnect my WiFi internet. I then only get a handful of courses to play. If I go to net work mode and have both skytrak and tgc2019 running I cannot access anything. The folks over at skygolf told me to switch from 5.0ghz to 2.4 ghz. I have to keep pasting my license into TGC . I’m going to try and get the adapters so I could use the spare HDMI cable that I have next to the skytrak and back to the computer. They sell hdmi to usb connectors so there is a chance it might work. I have to also get a micro usb male to usb female connector for the skytrak.

Why do you have to disconnect your wifi when using direct mode? Shouldn't have to. Also, be sure that you aren't confusing direct mode with usb mode. Those are two different things. You want the skytrak communicating with the computer through the usb cable and then the computer communicating with tgc over wifi.

One thing to note is that you cannot have the skytrak app and tgc running at the same time. Follow these steps:

        1. Connect the usb to your skytrak and computer.
        2. Turn on skytrak
        3. Turn on computer
        4. Launch tgc

When you turn on the computer, do not open up the skytrak app. Only open tgc. That might be where you're going wrong. (And keep your wifi connected because that's how you access all the other courses)

I’m connecting my skytrak via dir3ct mode with my computer. I have not connected the usb from the skytrak to the computer except for when I initially set up TGC 2019 after the download. When skytrak is in direct mode it works fine. Once I turn on the internet it goes off. So the folks at skygolf went on my computer and set it to network mode. It worked at first but not with TGC 2019. Are you saying that in order to make all of this work I will need a hard wire usb connection from the skytrak to the computer?

Just curious, is your computer accessing the internet through an ethernet cable or something comparable or are you using wifi to connect your PC to the internet? I have my PC connected to my router via an ethernet cable, and always use network mode when in the Skytrak app and with TGC. I have found this to be extremely stable. I struggled( actually was never successful when trying to go wireless to the internet).

You do not need a USB connection. I (and many others) have just found USB mode to be the most reliable (less reliance on WiFi)

Try following the steps I outlined above, and in that order. Again, don't even open the Skytrak app at all. Only open TGC.
