    Direct Connection Issues

    Hi all,

I have had my SkyTrak for about 8 months now since May 2020 and am encountering my first issue. If anyone has any advice or suggestions to share, I would greatly appreciate it!

For the first 6 months, I used the unit (driving range software) exclusively at home in Network mode on an ipad, with no issues.

Then, for the next 2 months, I began using the unit (driving range software) exclusively at a local shop with an indoor hitting space in Direct mode on an iphone. Up until a few days ago, I did not have any issues.

A few days ago, in the middle of a driving range session (Direct mode), I got logged out. After logging back in, the connection between my iphone and SkyTrak unit would drop every few balls, reconnect, and then drop again. Since then, the frequency of dropped connection has gotten worse. It is now the point where it will connect in Direct mode (sometimes having to wait up to 5-10 mins) but not long enough to even hit one ball.

I confirmed that I do not seem to have connection issues at home. I can connect the SkyTrak unit in Network mode on an ipad and in Direct mode on my iphone, at home.

Does anyone have any idea why I may suddenly be having trouble with my Direct mode connection at a local shop using the same SkyTrak unit, same iphone, and same hitting space that I had previously used for about 50 sessions with no issues?

Thank you very much in advance!

I am having a similar issue. My skytrak is only about 2 weeks old. It will connect via direct, but the USB connection doesn't work. (worked fine for a few hours yesterday and then started this issue) It flashes on and off. It does work if i hover over it or set the unit on a elevated surface. It will also work if i put something in front of the red dot. I will try and post a video later. I tried everything that is mentioned on this forum in different places. Taking it out of the metal case etc...

The USB cable that comes with the Skytrak is not exactly the finest in quality. Others (like hanky down below) have reported better results just by buying a different USB cable.

Really weird, and I “didn’t think it could happen to me” but I was using a cord that didn’t work. I tried 2 other ones and it did the trick.

I would just like to share an update on my issue. I confirmed that I do not have issues connecting my ipad (wifi only model) with SkyTrak in Direct connection mode at my local shop. So, I believe this narrows the issue down to my iphone.

I thought that maybe my iphone was jumping around between wifi networks without me knowing. So, I reset the network settings on my iphone. I also hard reset the SkyTrak unit. But, so far my issue has not been resolved. And it seems to take even longer (about 10 minutes) for my iphone to establish a Direct connection, which will then be dropped within seconds.

      Does anyone have any thoughts?
