Skytrak package

Hi been looking to get a skytrak setup have limited room but can still swing a driver just, but would mean skytrak unit is close to wall and will be hitting into a screen on right hand side.
Garage is 8ft x 8ft and 13.5 ft long ..

anyways been offered a set up package second hand from a friend. His asking for 3k would you say it’s a fair price ???

Assuming everything is in good shape, seems like a good price. The height though if your ceiling height is exactly 8 feet and the enclosure is exactly 245 cm is not gonna work. You’re not going to have enough clearance to get the enclosure over the top I’d measure it again to make sure

I would say it's a good deal. Used Skytrak's with the case are going for around $2100-2400 at the moment. That projector is worth at least $400 used and then add in the mat, screen and enclosure and $3000 is not a bad deal at all (especially considering the all-in-one convenience).

Couple things to consider though...

--You'll have to cut down the enclosure to make it fit in your space. Not a huge deal. Home Depot sells a pipe cutter for like $20 that does the trick. You'll then have to fold (or cut) the screen to size as well.

--I don't know what you're going to do with that projector. It has a slightly longer throw ratio so it will need to go pretty far back from the screen to cast a big enough image for you. And it also has a fairly large vertical offset. Mounting it behind you will put your shadow all over the screen while mounting it in front of you will only fill about half the screen. Probably wouldn't offer the best experience. That being said, you could probably sell it and use the money to buy a more appropriate projector for your space.

the ceiling height is no issue, i swing my driver in my lounge and it’s 20cm lower than the garage one.
with regards to the frame it will need to be cut down by 15cm to fit but shouldn’t be an issue. The projector however does sound like a problem .. so as you say will probably try out and maybe sell and buy better suited model.

If your lounge is 20cm (8 inches) lower than 8 feet, that means your lounge is 7'4", how can you possibly swing a driver?

Wow. My ceiling is 8’8” and I have lightly scraped the ceiling with the driver a couple times when I got loose. I can’t imagine anything lower.

My ceiling in garage is 20cm over 8 ft lol also I use a a 44.5 inch driver and I’m 5ft 10

Ended up paying £3.5k .. but going to have a look tomorrow. Apart from the obvious is there anything I should be checking for with the skytrak unit ??

I’d check 3 things in addition to eyeballing the unit, asking if he’s ever had to get it serviced through Skytrak, etc.

Accuracy - by doing some short chips for directional purposes. Mine plays “straight” but some have reported that theirs plays a few degrees off so good to know that. I’d also take some full shots and look at spin numbers. There’s a notion out there that Skytrak has some left spin bias. I’m not sure I’ve noticed that on mine but good to get your reaction to it.

Response time - my delay is barely 2 seconds if that so I’m very happy with it. I’d check that and ask if it’s consistent.

Volume - I’d check how many shots it’s processed so far.

Oh, I’d also ask about how he’s had it connected (direct, network, USB) and if he’s had any issues with network connectivity. Mostly for purposes of playing TGC19 should you plan to do so (which I highly recommend).
