  • Any new courses for Fitness Golf

I recently got the Fitness Golf Sim software, and have to say for the price it is really good, and with 161 courses, quite a few to play. However, I reached out to fitness golf to ask if any other courses were being added, but they currently do not have any plans, although they did comment that they believe some users were designing their own courses and to post and ask in this forum

So, has anybody on here created any new courses for Fitness Golf. I am using Skytrak with it

I’m currently building two of them. One is almost completely done that I could share. It’s my local course. Only caution I’d give is I only setup normal conditions and not soft or firm.

bigwill29 - I've looked at Fitness Golf (Red Chain) and the libraries.... but from what I see - it would be a lot of work. How are you doing your design work - exactly? Maybe I've overlooked some tool, or way to do something?

It’s a ton of work between conditions, fall the grass and water and every damn tree it’s tough. I was fortunate that a guy from the golfsimclubhouse.com helped me get the LIDAR data otherwise it would have been a fools errand. The difficulty is why I only have one mostly don’t course. The second one is playable but just not nearly as identical to the real course I’m making......soooooo many trees.

That would be great if you could. I tend to play it in normal conditions anyway

Sounds good. I’ll probably post to the golf sim clubhouse.com and here if possible. I’d love your feedback as well. And if you are ever in the Milwaukee area to play the real course.

It's being uploaded to http://www.golfsimclubhouse.com/wgc2011/courses/. The mod there will then need to post it to the courses section where you can just download it and add it to your Courses folder in Fitness Golf. I'd post it here but its 300mbs so I'm pretty sure I can't. Anyone that downloads and plays it I'd love feedback.

I'll make sure to update this post when I get confirmation its on the site. Hope you enjoy.

Bigwill29 ... Is all the courses listed on that site available for fitness golf, or are they already included in fitness golf?

There are a couple of courses on the WGC 2011 website that will not function with Fitness Golf. Several others are such low quality that we also didn't include these. Several of the courses on the site also have multiple names so they are listed twice.

Go for it bigwill29 - it'd be great to have a new FG course. All power to you and I can't wait to play it. Sure FG is not the most sophisticated sim but it's a bundle of fun and great value. In the UK all our real courses have been closed for 6 of the last 12 months so thank goodness for FG!

BTW I was fooling about the other day seeing which FG course was which and I came across a course called "Loegstoer Seaside Course" on the golfsimclubhouse site above that doesn't seem to be on the FG course list. Can anybody shed any light on this? Am I missing something?

I'm not sure why we didn't include that one other than the fact that the graphics are very basic. But, I just played it and it isn't that bad. Feel free to download it, unzip it, and copy it to the Fitness Golf Courses folder and then you can play it.

Wanaki is now uploaded to http://www.golfsimclubhouse.com/wgc2011/courses/. Greg from Fitness Golf had some good comments about adding a set of longer tees that I will get to at some point soon. Remember please only play in normal mode only as I didn't (but will just in case) alter Dry or Soft conditions at this point. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts and when I finish my next course (Glacier Wood) I'll make sure to let everyone know.

Looks great - nice job! I have played it on the PC game and it looks really good - will play it properly in my cave with ST ASAP. The PGA tour is at the Honda Classic this week so I've been playing that course but the FG version only has the tiger tees. a 240 yd carry over water would've been fine 30 years ago but not now, so really good that you've included tees for us aged ones!

Can't wait to see Glacier Wood................

Thanks! Let me know how it goes. If you get bored I could have you test Glacier Wood for me. All I want to do with that is refine some terrain and some of the surrounding trees. It’s very playable though and has one stunning (in real life) par 3. It’s just unfortunately redoing all those perimeter trees will take forever but will add to a more authentic feel.

That's great, good to hear there are designers out there. So, I'm curious, you talked about LiDAR, how do you put that LiDAR into the Fitness Golf courses? Is there some tutorial somewhere on how this is done? I am planning to eventually run FG in the Winter - to keep my exercise up and I might like to design some of my local courses and put them up for FG.

Can you let me know the best tutorial for 2 things: 1.) LiDAR, and 2.) putting Trees into course, adding water hazards, etc.?

        Thanks!

I was lucky enough that someone got me the LIDAR file as I think most of the tools that used to exist really don't anymore and the ones that do are far from cheap. Go to golfsimclubhouse for tutorials.

Just finished playing Wanaki and it played really well- there are some really interesting holes and it works just great. I went round off the men's tees in 85 off my 63 year old 18 handicap - very nice.

I had just one comment - I think that the yardage is wrong for the 15th. I think that it's 100 yds too long on the scorecard and the hole title. Other than that though it's gone straight on my GF "faves" list and comes highly recommended so thanks bigwill29!

I think 15 plays correct. It’s a par 5 but it’s meant to be played straight out and not left over the trees. In real life course rules it’s OB left so it’s not generally best to cut the corner especially because it can be a bit of a wind tunnel down there. Unfortunately I can’t add such rules and conditions on the sim or at least that I’m aware of. The software from a yardage standpoint needs to be manipulated to get the right par for the course too.

          And thank you!
